The bugs were always already there and the guys with a $250M SIGINT enabling budget are probably pissed they got fixed

This aggressive bullshit towards our female parliamentarians has been going on for years. I remember the "chaff bag" remarks directed towards PM Gillard by a certain radio person. There is no place for threatening personal aggression in political discussions.

People with annual incomes less than the full time minimum wage are paying income tax. Companies earning millions or billions in profits are not paying company tax. Wealth is not taxed at all. Waste is tax deductible. Job search expenses are not tax deductible. These need to change.

I hate writing to my local member (and don't even suggest I use an actual telephone) but maybe now is a good time to contact them & say, "if it turns out this attack was caused in part by mental health issues, can you pls advocate & vote for more govt funded healthcare & a higher rate of the a DSP"

I'm old enough to remember when Pauline Hanson was so offended at being lampooned by drag artist 'Pauline Pantsdown' that she took her application for an injunction against PP all the way to the High Court. Seems the admonishment to 'have a laugh' only goes one way.

This is horrible. I hope MP Haines makes a full recovery.

#BREAKING 🚨 Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says Indi MP Helen Haines was "attacked" when she was struck by a vehicle outside her electorate office in Victoria earlier this afternoon, with one suspect in custody "We are praying for her full recovery...the motive is not known"

The economic system NEEDS about five percent unemployment. Then we demonize them and send them into poverty.

I think it's important to interact with AI in a very carefully controlled way: specifically to understand exactly how toxic and terrible it is I only get it to return text in two conditions: (a) a topic I know well and (b) a question I **already answered**. You learn v quick how bad the answers are

newrepublic.comDoes Generative AI “Work”? That’s a Misleading Question.Generative AI works a lot like fossil fuels “work”—narrowly, intermittently, and with a lot of nasty side effects.
Will Stancil@whstancil.bsky.social

One of the things that really shines through in these AI debates is how many of the antis refuse to actually use or touch the thing they're trying to criticize, which leads to claims that have this religious tenor and bear no resemblance whatsoever to real-world manifestations of AI.

Did you know there can be different heart attack symptoms in women & men? 👇 #Health #HeartHealth

Lili@lilimaree.bsky.social

www.nine.com.au/lifestyle/he... This is definitely a read especially for women. I myself didn’t think too much of me having a stinging sensation in the middle of my chest and also the hospital told me I wasn’t having a heart attack. Weeks later,I was flown to Sydney for open heart surgery so 🙏🏼read

Mutual obligation requirements for employers: none. Mutual obligation requirements for "job service providers": none. Mutual obligation requirements for governments: none. Mutual obligation requirements for the Reserve Bank: none. "Mutual" obligation is an Orwellian lie.

Andrew Leigh @aleighmp.bsky.social banging on about experimenting with the lives of JobSeekers even though there's so much data already saying that compulsory mutual obligations don't work, cutting people off their payments harms people, and the payment is way too low to start with

Every time you fill up your car with fuel, you're paying more tax (fuel excise and GST) on that single tank of fuel than Santos has paid in company tax in more than TEN YEARS.

Greg Jericho@grogsgamut.bsky.social

The latest corporate tax data just dropped. And congrats to Santos Ltd - 11yrs in a row of no company tax.

I love our unemployment system. Oh you’re unexpectedly out of work? We’ll pay you half your rent a fortnight from three months in the future. Good luck!

OpenAI won't even consider renewable investments in Australia until the country agrees to kill its copyright laws so they can freely train on creative work. When Albanese caves and agrees to this, OpenAI will just run on fossil fuels anyway: guaranteed. archive.ph/mzSVj

Don't allow your pets anywhere near a sick bird. Dogs sniffing near them will inhale the virus & likely develop a sub clinical infection which makes them dangerous carriers. Cats living with the dogs will get very sick & die.

The Conversation AUNZ@aunz.theconversation.com

Domestic pet owners, particularly those with chicken flocks, should be on alert for signs of this highly infectious virus.

Here's a protest idea to highlight the excessive red tape in social security law. Print out the legislation in 12-point font on red paper as a single very long line and tape it together. Walk this tape across a busy street. This strip of paper would be about 8 km long.

If this is a typical example of their lack of competence and knowledge, I wouldn't trust One Nation candidates to run a chook raffle in a pub.

The USA claims that forced labour is the justification for imposing tariffs. The USA is being hypocritical. It allows forced labour in prisons by the 13th Amendment. Some of its supply chains include industrial prisons and leasing of prisoners by private companies.

The only stakeholders who are relevant to the design of support services for unemployed workers are the unemployed workers themselves, and the employers who would employ them. Why does the government exclude these groups?

FIFA has 211 member countries and one team wins the FIFA World Cup every four years. On average, a particular country wins it every 844 years. England won it in 1966. If they're an average team, they're on track to win it again in 2810. Maybe they'll have learnt how to defend a lead by then.

Private actors are increasing their control over the essentials of life in energy, fuel, housing, food, healthcare & education. They drive inflation & drag down living standards. We need price controls & more public delivery to protect Australia from inflation & profiteering. My op-ed with SMH.
