People are dying from USAID cuts, kids are going hungry from SNAP cuts, immigrants are being incarcerated in horrific concentration camps. That is the legacy of Trump, Vance, Miller, Musk, et al. It must end.

There's been a surge of popular art about the first years of the AIDS crisis. In this new essay, I try to honor and explore a charged moment in which custody of that art-making is shared by people who lived through those dark years and people who didn't. Gift link. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/19/t...

nytimes.comWhat Can We See in All the Recent Art About AIDS? (Gift Article)Nearly five decades after the disease first appeared, many filmmakers, writers and others are finding new meaning in catastrophe.

I find generational 'analyses' pretty lazy, overall. I would never presume that all Gen X'rs are arrogant slackers, nor that Millennials lack a work ethic. The truth is much more diverse and so many other factors are at play. This stuff kinda drives me nuts. Maybe because I'm a Boomer, lol.

Checking out. Thank you to anyone who took the time to sit for a few moments 🙏🙏🙏 Anyone can start a pop-up #meditation any time! Hashtags help us find each other: #Care2sit #OMCru #OMCruBlue #meditation #mindfulness enjoy the present moment!

Sure the whole Katie Zacharia episode is amusing. But, sorry to bring this up--if the White House process is this inept when bringing on a press sec'ty, I shudder to think what might unfold if a real international/military crisis happens. Their decision-making process is in shambles.

Hey @notpodium.bsky.social -- look, the NYT got it right! "In the interview with Mr. Posobiec, Ms. Zacharia also described the harried process of her hiring, hinting that she wasn’t really ready for what was about to happen when she stepped up to the White House lectern for the first time."

I love this! AI will never EVER do anything remotely like this. This is all we need. Each other and our creativity.

“They want us to be afraid. They want us to censor ourselves before they even have a chance to do it. We will not do that. We will confidently put resistance politics out there into the world to go along with the movements of people who are actively trying to fight against these systems.”

Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day! ...a time to honor the first people who inhabited Turtle Island and who still live here, who have tended to the land and waters of this place since time immemorial. It’s a good day to donate to Native-led nonprofits, suggestions in comments. How are you celebrating?

In @nytopinion.nytimes.com Gina Hinojosa, the Democrat running for Texas governor, says that the opportunity for her party “lies not with moderate, affluent Republicans put off by Trump’s norm-smashing vulgarity, but with disappointed MAGA populists,” our columnist Michelle Goldberg writes.

Who is the sadist who designed Medicare? Most complicated thing I've ever seen. Don't bother explaining it to me, I get the difference btw Original Medicare, Advantage, and Supplement plans. But all the A, B, C, D, ad nauseum and exclusions, etc, are the work of a madman.

Don't even get me started.... why should seniors have to pay anything for the Medicare premium, much less $200 a month??!! While Pete Hegseth has a blank check to destroy the military and possibly the whole world. F this.
