Es ist wirklich frustrierend wie deutsche Leitmedien wie @spiegel.de @szde.bsky.social oder auch @zeit.de immer und immer wieder dooms day Nachrichten von OpenAI und Anthropic wiedergeben als wären sie der verlängerte Arm ihrer PR-Abteilung. Ich weiß, dass doom and gloom gerade hip ist, aber....

6 Monate lang wird keine Pressemitteilung oder irgendein wahnsinniger (Ex-)Mitarbeiter, aufmerksamkeitsbedürftiger "Experte" oder ähnliches interviewt oder wiedergegeben. 6 Monate wird kein neuer Weltuntergangs-Spin dieser Unternehmen weitergegeben. Und dann schauen wir mal, ob die Welt noch steht

Selbstverständlich haben LLMs als Technolgie ein Risikopotenzial, das bspw. Cybersicherheit vor größere Herausforderungen stellt. Aber weder haben wir bisher "rogue", "autonome" oder "intelligente" AI Systeme gesehen. Was wir sehen, sind Unternehmen, die sich größer darstellen als sie sind.

Man stelle sich mal vor, Volkswagen haut jeden zweiten Tag eine neue Story raus, dass Autos den Weltuntergang herbeiführen und die Menschheit zerstören werden! Oder städtische Klärwerke melden, dass Wasser zur Herstellung von Bio-Waffen verwendet werden könnte. /s

Selbst wenn in einem entsprechenden Artikel später ein kurzer kritischer Absatz aus Anstand eingebaut wird, so stehen auf jeder Seite die gleichen Überschriften (und das lesen Menschen). Ich plädiere sehr stark dafür, dass Nachrichtenmedien sich selbst ein OpenAI/Anthropic Moratorium auferlegen:

Seit Jahren erzählen uns diese Firmen, dass sie wirklich und absolut ehrlich ganz ganz wichtige Player sind, die quasi Nationalen Sicherheits-Status bekommen sollten. Denn als reine Wirtschaftsunternehmen sind sie Meilen von Rentabilität entfernt und werden es vermutlich nie sein.

Stattdessen wird jede Woche eine Story in die Medien gestochen, dass jetzt nun aber wirklich gleich jeden Moment (pinky promise) AGI erreicht wird, die Welt untergeht, die Menschheit ausgelöscht, Bio-Waffen erzeugt werden. Dazu kommt, dass der Vermenschlichungsnarrativ unkritisch repliziert wird.
