✨ My new library gpuix-svelte is out! Build native desktop apps for macOS, Windows and Linux using Svelte and gpui, a Rust-powered graphics engine. Excited to see what you build! #svelte #native gpuix-svelte.stanislav.garden

gpuix-svelte.stanislav.gardengpuix-svelte: Build native desktop apps with SvelteA Svelte renderer for native desktop apps on macOS, Windows and Linux. GPUI, the UI framework behind the Zed editor, draws them, with no DOM or webview.

One way to think about the difference between living in the US and Europe is that if I still lived in NYC, the iPhone Duo would cost about a third of a month's rent while it costs two months rent in Malmö. Sweden probably makes this worse than other parts of Europe because of the 25% VAT.

I personally say “I learned it by watching you” much more. I think it’s very close but if I had to pick one as more famous, it would be your brain on drugs.

Hive mind, settle a Gen X debate for me. What's more famous: "I learned it by watching you" OR "This is your brain on drugs" And if you need more context then you aren't allowed to answer.

The order feels designed to infuriate everyone who reads it so that it’s more likely to be a part of The Discourse.

I have my usual cranky opinions about that TV list — and ALL LISTS — but several shows shouldn't be on it at all (Queens Gambit, Baby Reindeer) & it feels like it's going to be missing a bunch of key series, especially The Good Fight, Evil and High Maintenance... plus Bojack should be higher up

This oped is an excellent summary of what it feels like here. The headlines everyday on how the opposition promises to form commissions to study the problems introduced the last four years make me want to scream.

If you use AI less than I do, you just don’t get it. If you use AI more than I do, you’ve fucking lost it. The optimal amount of AI is exactly how much I currently use.

I am in for #SvelteSummit in Ljubljana! Is anyone getting there Tuesday or leaving Sunday for a day to just be a tourist? I am thinking about a day trip to Bled but am open to ideas.

There’s a guy on TikTok who posts just him taking a pizza out of the oven every day with tongs and all of the comments are about how their day is ruined from having watched this

After soon 2 years living in Sweden as a Finn, two profound insights: 1. Swedes are as awkward as Finns, just better dressed 2. Both suck at smalltalk, but in Sweden being silent isn’t as socially accepted as in Finland, so Swedes sometimes pretend not to have seen you to avoid awkward smalltalk

Click through for the details: eBay employees (incl. execs) sent them "a bloody pig mask, pornography, a package of fly larvae and live spiders, and live cockroaches...They also listed Craiglist ads for a swinger party, a threesome, and an estate sale, all pointing to the Steiner’s home address."

obviously this is a huge problem for safety this example was mundane, arguably even good. But it still involved ruthlessly pursuing a goal without considering if that goal is good or intended

I started the Molly Crabapple book Here Where We Live Is Our Country, about the Jewish Bund. I feel a strong connection to them. Am I Bundist, not as much anti-Zionist? This is very hard to reconcile, as an emigrant.

This show is somewhere around 10% of the reason we moved here

Cherry blossom! This is a heavy one: inspecting one of the petals crashes the web renderer. random-item() isn't implemented yet, but the petal styles still look random because even though the pattern repeats each petal starts at a random point.

SvelteKit 2.63.0 just got released, and env vars are now handled much better than before! 🔥 Here is a quick recap:

I made Mexican matzah brei (migas) for the first time. I thought it was pretty good. Could barely get the kids to taste it. Typical.

This is really quite a good walkthrough of how deanonymization can work here in 2026, with fairly smart people who thought they’d done their homework to respect someone’s privacy.

We more or less figured this out within 45 minutes of the original story... and HOW we figured it out should give lawyers and judges everywhere pause.

the replacements.fyi site now lets you drop a package.json into it to see which dependencies can be replaced with native functionality, or more performant choices 🎉

As a liberal, I am against this sort of thing.

The Swedish 🇸🇪 Parliament just approved a law that would create a tiered citizenship scheme, with a 1st class (mostly for the native born) that cannot be revoked and a 2nd class (mostly for the naturalized) that can: www.svt.se/nyheter/inri... Only two parties (Left and Green) voted against.
