Very proud to say that Sarah had another piece accepted at a top literary fiction journal. I could only hope to be as productive in a month period!
PUBLICATION ALERT! But not my own. :) Proud of my partner, who has put together an awesome collection of short stories + a novel. Her very first publication landed at the Colorado Review, a top tier literary fiction journal. No idea how she does it- this isn't even her full time job!

peter hull comparing TWFE and modern DIDs & it seems TWFE is OK. people will go "YOU SEE IT DIDN'T MATTER AFTER ALL" but regardless of whether TWFE is ultimately useful or not that all DiD chaos was a net good because it clarified the estimand. tinyurl.com/twfevsdid

Trump admin's new rule adding prohibitively expensive new fees for "OPT"—temporary work authorization program for international students and new grads in the United States—is out. Would require colleges to pay $70,000 for year one. $30,000 for years two and three combined for STEM fields.
A quick bump on this ask, re: supporting international students in higher ed. I'm serving on a department committee trying to understand this better.
Colleagues: what are your institutions doing to support international students given the threat to F-1 Duration of Status (D/S) and new CPT restrictions? I’m especially concerned about impacts on PhD timelines and optional summer internships. Would value hearing how others are responding.
Related to this- I would love learn more about how your international student receive financial support (if at all) when they are working abroad.

This is about publishing in economics journals but I found it fascinating and probably applicable in other fields/areas- about why/how two papers asking the same question with the same answer might have very different landing spots in terms of a journal jasonmfletcher.substack.com/p/how-to-wri...

Implementation of a major desegregation plan increased the share of Black students in White students' schools by 10 percentage points--immediately. This essentially doubled the baseline share. What contemporary policy in any sphere matches the scale and aspiration of this shift?
I'm starting a new school desegregation project. Always shocking to see in the data how much major deseg plans actually changed the experiences of students. (And also to see the immediate, substantial subsequent White flight). Deseg truly was a massive (imperfect) nationwide policy undertaking.
Thanks for amplifying our work, @paul-bruno.com - we're excited to see this research on Indiana school choice out in the world!
