I’m proud that, despite the toll it has taken on us and our families for 7 months, we as the Broadview Six – Kat, Brian, Andre, Joselyn, Cat, and me - stepped up to fight the Trump administration and win this case, not only for us, but for our immigrant communities, & protesters throughout the U.S.

Joined Operation Swing State volunteers in Michigan today to campaign for U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Syed and other Democrats ahead of the November 3rd election! We saw Abdul signs all over and spoke with lots of voters excited about flipping Congress to Dems.

“We just had the one-year anniversary of the protest. Then the anniversary of ‘no bill’ day on Oct. 9. (Last week) we had the one year anniversary of “crock of s—” day. Now here comes the anniversary of ‘Boutros shows up and then there’s an indictment’ day…It’s been quite the year.”

Chicago Tribune@chicagotribune.com

A year after the indictment, the failed Broadview Six case has become not so much about the rule of law, but the actions of those responsible for imposing it.

It’s been quite the year: “For the former defendants, the past 12 months have been a roller-coaster, from facing years in prison & vilification by the Trump administration to seeing all charges dropped & being celebrated by many as the vanguard of resistance to the president’s immigration policies.”

It’s been one year and I thought this case was a crock of shit then and I still think it is! (Slight variation of heroic Broadview Six grand juror’s celebrated quote from 10/16/25).

If the crock of shit juror ever wanted to step forward, I would love to buy them a beer/coffee/ice cream/whatever! I really believe that the grand jurors who, over multiple days refused to indict despite extraordinary pressure from prosecutors are unsung heroes of this whole mess.

JUST IN: U.S. District Judge April Perry lays out her demands for federal prosecutors in Chicago as she decides how to proceed in the "Broadview Six" litigation:

One of the most interesting parts of DOJ's request for a (second) mulligan in providing grand jury transcripts to Judge April Perry in the Broadview 6 case is that DOJ is hiding the identity of one of the people making the request. emptywheel.net/2026/10/09/b...

Good morning. Federal prosecutors in Chicago filed partially redacted documents overnight in the "Broadview Six" case. The redactions appear to include the signature block (including the name) of one of the attorneys representing the United States government:

A federal judge on Thursday said she’d initiate a “fact finding” process to determine whether the U.S. attorney’s office intentionally misled her in the “Broadview Six” case, a rare step that could lead to sanctions or even appointment of a special prosecutor to bring criminal contempt charges.

My no. 1 takeaway is that the government says that any special prosecutor appointed in the Broadview 6 case would have to report to Todd Blanche and I want to remind everyone that Todd Blanche WAS LITERALLY QUOTED in the DOJ press release announcing the Broadview 6 indictment.
