Hey everybody. On the 25-year anniversary, we're reprinting the much revered 9/11 edition of The Onion and sending that free to every member this month. It's been 25 long years. Look back in anger.

Whoopi corners JD Vance about the removal of historical interpretation in museums and parks. #museum #interpretation #nps #publichistory

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: What did Black people do to this administration that has allowed it to really stigmatize folks of color? JD VANCE: What exactly are you talking about? AUDIENCE: *groans*

The 25th Amendment is an option available as soon as Republicans realize he is dooming them specifically more than the rest of us generally. Looking at you, JD and Marco

Oh…. Substack. Let’s be looking for some competitor platforms that don’t espouse 8th-grade edgelord points of view.

You're paying for this. Trump's Big Ugly Bill gave BILLIONS to ICE and giant corporations—using money meant to lower your health care costs. Instead of helping your mom get cancer treatment, your tax dollars are being used to terrorize communities.

CNN airs a compilation of escalating ICE aggression towards peaceful protesters.

Wrote this before yesterday but it gets at what undergirds that (and lots of other things in politics). "The internet universalized subjectivity instead of objectivity. … We have reverted from acting on what we *know* to acting on what we *think*."

My wife, who was born and raised in Germany, can confirm every word of this. She once said to me: "The problem with your country is that you have no sense of collective shame."

Too bad the GOP effectively criminalized studying how information moves online and news orgs laid off and demonized all the reporters who covered the burgeoning online accelerationist performative death cults. All of that work was somehow "censorship" that needed to be stopped. Now we're here.

2/ This week you will read many confused economists and political pundits who won’t understand how the tariffs make economic sense. That’s because they don’t. They aren’t designed as economic policy. The tariffs are simply a new, super dangerous political tool.

New — Institute of Museum and Library Sciences employees were allowed back in the building this morning to gather belongings after all being put on admin leave by DOGE yesterday. Supporters have gathered in front of the building and staffers inside have posted a visible sign that says "SOS IMLS."

Douglass was an abolitionist, suffragist, orator and author. That’s what we celebrate him. Let’s be clear: This bars celebrating him because he was Black.

And for all the scientists asking “what can we do?”, here’s an interesting suggestion: call your local TV stations and newspapers and tell them you’d be happy to be interviewed. if you do that, please let us know and we’ll share so others can learn.
