What is the BBC's justification for maintaining this level of coverage of Reform now it has slipped into third place?

Alex Andreou@sturdyalex.bsky.social

BBC News just interrupted its coverage to go, live, to Nigel Farage - a man with no contitutional standing in our setup - responding to the budget - a document which nobody has seen yet. WHY

The whole world is having to deal with the terrifying and expensive chaos caused by this country's temper tantrum, and then we have to hear them mytholigise themselves on top of it all. Just can't be fucking dealing with it.

Absolutely useless but fascinating fact of the type I love.

Claude Monet@monet.bsky.social

Renoir painted nudes, Monet didn’t. His wife Alice said she’d kick him out if he brought models home. So instead, he painted his stepdaughters—especially Suzanne, who posed for Woman with a Parasol. Sometimes family drama shapes art history.

Donald Trump just said something I said. Data centres should be responsible for their own power - they should not be allowed to just connect to the grid we have. It makes perfect sense, these mega projects in all senses and their design and build should include their own power needs - and water.

Fucking serves the 'ordinary buyers' right. Brains of a rocking horse!

Mickey Kuhns@mickeykuhns.bsky.social

Trump reported $635 million in income from $TRUMP coin sales. Reuters found over $700M in investor losses by June; the coin is down 97%, turning $1,000 bought at the peak into about $25. Funny how “America First” works: Trump rakes in cash, ordinary buyers eat the losses. finbold.com/official-tru...

Can't argue with this. But you could say we're not a serious country when a lightweight prick like Hancock can reach high office.

Bruce Gorrie@bsrg1.bsky.social

That cunt Matt Hancock got £300,000 for I'm A Celebrity, £40,000 for Celebrity SAS. He should be in the jail. We do not live in a serious society.

The UK's idea of defence is swaggering around the world like Billy big bollocks, pretending it's still a world power. The UK has 145 bases out-with it's borders, China has one. We don't need more military spending, we need a restructuring that prioritises actual defence, not these colonial fantasies

This had me until the mention of bikes. I trust all powered bikes and scooters would be included in the definition of 'motor traffic'. They can be more lethal than cars.

That will create shortages and price rises and would be simply unfair - data centres need to pay their own way, provide for their own massive power and water needs. It’s just sensible.

Not the sharpest tool in the box.

Adam Boulton: "she, in common with a lot of people in Ireland is taking a very strong pro Palestine & I have to say anti Israel & anti Jewish stance" Adam, can you provide evidence that Sally Rooney is taking an anti Jewish stance? Or are you, in fact, lying to smear critics of Israel?

In any re-join conversation, the UK will have to stop navelgazing about issues like free movement and treat European integration as now being fundamentally an issue of national security in an age in which it is sandwiched between Russia, other autocraties, and an unreliable, even hostile, US.

It's why the Land League was probably the most powerful political organisation in 19th Century Ireland. It spawned Parnell and Davitt, and was supported by Archbishop Croke who had a park somewhere named after him.

Its why my parents sent me and my sister home as babies to live with our grandparents for nearly 10 years while they worked all the hours god sent to save for a house deposit before they brought us back to London to live with them.

CJ may be right about European countries, but they have proper regulations to protect tenants and publicly owned, high quality, reasonably priced, rental housing stock. All in total contrast to the UK.
