Much easier for the media to lock in on faux Cheesecake Factory outrage than a House Dem report indicating Todd Blanche basically told Ghislaine Maxwell "stop talking" when she was about to discuss a girl that could more closely tie Trump to Epstein

This is priceless. Check out how local news is reporting on Sen Eric Schmidt’s clown-show grilling of Jack Smith. They found Jack Smith at the game… “Top corner, section 109, row 1. In fact, that seat doesn’t even exist in Atlanta.”

Saw Avengers Endgame Encore with my 13yr old huge Loki fan but for unknown reasons we did not get the bonus scene with Mobius & TVA :-(

Anyone notice how Pete Hegseth spent the first few weeks of the Iran bombing campaign in front of the cameras telling us how awesome it was going and now we haven’t seen him for months?

We were mid-handshake and he pulled me in and grabbed tighter and got upset and raised his voice and said: "What are you talking about man?! Those aren't real people. They're illegal aliens!"

Kash Patel defended his new policy before the Senate Judiciary Committee which allows the FBI to hire agents who have engaged in bestiality and it barely gets noticed because there are 50 other things happening from these clowns each day that are worse.

We used to have little house parties and play Heroes III taking turns in the hot seat. The even host named his dog Solmyr! Looking forward to reading this interview…

I am going to shoutout my husband, @dattm18.bsky.social really quick this morning. This was a great read (and edit) - this Gamescom interview with the CD on the Heroes of Might and Magic III remake is a really vulnerable approach to game dev where they have put the community first in a unique way.

"Yes, yes, I hear the carbon monoxide alarm going off, but I still need to stay here because this is where my knitting community is, you see. Also, the only place I can get news about the Premier League. I have no choice. I'll be OK."

Have seen this Nature piece about the effects of X's algorithm mentioned again and it bears repeating; exposure to a right wing algorithm makes you - measurably and predictably - more right wing, even after you stop using it. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Friday morning, I was gardening when I checked my phone. A request had gone out for help. For 25+ hours, ICE had been laying siege to a quiet neighborhood in Frederick, MD. Community members were afraid, some didn’t want to leave their homes. ICE vehicles seemed to be lurking on every corner.

My latest @npr.org story: A whistleblower report says the U.S. Postal Service is rushing out an online system for President Trump’s push to restrict mail-in voting that could “derail” the midterm election if courts allow it to proceed. Key parts of USPS' plan are currently blocked by a court order

Nor will it end at ethnic cleansing. A machine built to eat people will keep eating people. Those who run it will always find a new category of unwanted humans.

🚨Vindicated at last!🚨 I’ve been yelling about this for nearly a year. Washington Post now confirms that a massive secret bunker/command center hardened against WMDs already exists under the White House. It was built in 2010 & completely undercuts Trump’s excuse for his ballroom/bunker! [gift link]

Remarkable how little political noise it's made here in the US that a major American naval base in Bahrain was basically destroyed, and that this was kept quiet for five months www.nytimes.com/2026/08/14/u...

Anyone who doesn't think we had autistic kids back in the day didn't know the kids I knew in elementary school, the ones that were called "hyper" or "spastic" or were suspected of having "water on the brain," etc. Kids today are a lot better off with a formal diagnosis and treatment.

Data centers are unpopular. The GOP is all in on them because that’s where Trump’s sugar daddy money comes from. Dems can suckle from the same teat or they can do the smart thing morally and politically and join the anti data center wave.

Last night, the GOP members of the Senate approved Trump’s effort to destroy the rule of law in the US, wreck the Justice Dept., enable rampant corruption, defend pedophiles, and attack the president’s enemies. And they know they did those things. An egregious violation of their oaths of office.

Into Season 4 of Deep Space 9 - more than I saw when it was on. The acting is so good in this show. Just saw the episode where old man Jake saves Sisko. So good!

Terrible news! The acting in this show was top notch!!

Begging you fucking people to realize that criticism in the form of quote-dunking is just engagement. I absolutely share the dislike of where the Atlantic has gone editorially, so the best response is starving it of oxygen.

Greg Sargent@gregsargent.bsky.social

Serious Q: Given that progs on here constantly write long, detailed, searching threads on Atlantic pieces, w/ links and screen caps, why would its editors spend a second reconsidering their editorial conduct? All criticism is seen as proof that the writer is "provocative" and "gets talked about."

Just watched it again yesterday; new/deeper meaning each time.
