"By using AI, tasks like essays that used to take hours can be completed in minutes!" Sure, like how if I arrive at the gym and immediately go for a shower, my workout is done in record time. And if I throw my sandwiches straight in the bin, I can finish my lunch in under 10 seconds.

So far today I have tumbled out of bed, stumbled to the kitchen, poured myself a cup of ambition, yawned, stretched, come to life, and jumped in the shower to get my blood pumping

Colorado Governor Jared Polis signs bill that adds nuclear to the list of 'Clean Energy' resources, alongside wind and solar. Sierra Club, Sunrise, and GreenLatinos petitioned for a veto, and the effort was unsuccessful. 🔌💡 www.cpr.org/2025/04/01/p...

One of my favorite movies.

Remembering Val Kilmer in Real Genius (1985). Somehow laser science got an astonishingly accurate pop culture movie. It didn’t have to accurately depict building and troubleshooting excimer lasers and yet somehow it did.

I was getting tired of the rock on SiriusXM, and the good rock station in Denver switched to country a few years back. On a whim I asked Siri to play KSHE 95 and to my surprise it’s on Apple Music. Real Rock Radio St. Louis style.

Don’t just mark that request closed. Remember, optics are important. Set it to “In Review” for a couple weeks. You have to give the impression that you at least considered it first.

The US needs more enrichment capacity. Energy independence must include the Uranium supply chain.

Pavel Podvig@russianforces.org

This is an interesting development - Russia limits export of enriched uranium to the US www.bloomberg.com/news/article... Bloomberg's write-up is quite good. The original decree of the Russian government is at government.ru/news/53343/

It's not a lie. The technology has existed for some time.

There's even a fast-neutron reactor being built *right now* in New Brunswick specifically for consuming nuclear waste from legacy LWR! People need to hear that there are alternatives to burying waste. I try to spread the news, but am frequently accused of lying. #nukesky

True story.

Katie Mummah@nuclearkatie.com

There is a lot of engineering and economic challenges (among others!) to building actinide burning reactors where you reduce long-lived radionuclides for waste disposal. But transmutation of one thing into another thing is literally what nuclear engineering *is*

Quite fitting.

"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo. "So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

And some of those elements even have radioactive isotopes.

Parents, PLEASE check your kids’ Halloween candy this year. I just found atoms in this candy bar that were formed during BIG BANG NUCLEOSYNTHESIS, and many more that were the result of earlier generations of stars exploding as POWERFUL SUPERNOVA. Parents need to know about this dangerous trend!!

Cory is right. I've been saying this for years: conservatives love to cry "don't get political" to scientists, WHEN IT WAS CONSERVATIVES WHO POLITICIZED SCIENCE. So screw them. And good on my editors at Scientific American for endorsing Harris. It was the right thing to do, and I'm proud of 'em.
