There's an interesting and dismaying timeline here, in which the company, the FDA and USDA identified the problem weeks ago but no public recall of the tainted chicken wraps was ordered by the government. The information they've shared appears to be due to excellent reporting by @usatoday.com.

A federal judge in California barred DHS agents deployed as part of the “Unlawful Voter Initiative” from conducting field operations and stops that “involve or are likely to involve” citizens. Recently naturalized citizens had been a target, to see if any voted before naturalization.

Yep. Noncitizen voting is extremely rare AND there’s no real pattern in who does it; it can be people of any political viewpoint. That’s because it’s not some grand “voter fraud” conspiracy, it’s almost always what law professor Benjamin Plener Cover calls “voter mistake.”

I don’t quite see how the City (or County) of Los Angeles goes back to being ‘back to normal’ in 9-1-1, after a *checks notes* volcanic eruption. In the middle of DTLA. The federal courthouse HAS to move. Superior Court, too. What about MOCA? Grand Central Market?

A shame they canceled the Horny Doctor Boat Show. This would be the perfect crossover. The Odyssey happened to be near the Port of Los Angeles, a SOS goes out and the whole boat is commandeered by the Coast Guard to provide care and housing to refugees/patients. Max goes with Athena on a rescue run.

A tiny quibble - a scuba diver was trapped in acidified water in an aquarium. What happened to the fish in that water? And why didn’t anyone notice?

Things got more insane just about as soon as I posted this last night. DHS is now arguing that we cannot even put the names of ICE officers in our lawsuit against those officers. Their position is that, if a defendant works for DHS, they cannot be named in a lawsuit. Never seen anything like it.

Jared@jaredmcclain.bsky.social

It's been a struggle for reporters to get DHS to provide the names of officers who violate people's civil rights. Now, in our case against DHS's construction-site raids, the government is arguing in court that its employees names are "confidential" and should not be made public during litigation.
