In the past few years, I've lost my mom and my cat, both very tragically. My other cat was just diagnosed with CKD and given about a week to live. She was one of the few things motivating me to bother waking up. I have no idea what to do with myself, this has all been too soon and too consecutive.

Does "creator breakdown," where a webcomic creator loses their ambition due to overwork/depression & anxiety/horrible life event(s)/losing money/severe burnout just happen to most webcomic creators? I wish I didn't have the OCD driving me to reformat. I vowed I wasn't going to redo stuff, then did.

I read a webcomic back in the 2010's where the creator ended his own life, and that always stuck with me hard, being someone who struggles with ideation. I've thought about them since I've started making webcomics seriously.

I definitely dodged a few huge bullets in my lifetime due to being a very introverted autistic, but it's also limited my ability to market my art, so I'm not sure if it's a blessing or curse. I'm know I messed up a bunch of good opportunities in my life because I didn't get the subtle social clues.

I'm at the point where my dreams are so dead that I don't really care if anyone likes or hates my art, or if it become successful with it, I just want to make enough money to move to a remote island full of cats and never have to deal with society again.

I spend all my waking time working on art, working on marketing materials, trying to learn the algorithms, or applying for illustration jobs that won't bother to even give me a rejection...at what point do you just totally give up? I have no hobbies anymore, am 99% isolated, and also have anhedonia.

She also never told me what she had gotten into the last time I spoke to her, I had only learned after her missing persons report showed up that she was involved in drugs/prostitution in Kensington. She was an honors student and horse girl like me. I never would have guessed.

Tapas was a genuinely lovely platform before the Kakao sellout. The staff cared, the community was kind. The same story seems to repeat itself -- webcomic platform gets popular, sells out to a big corporation, goes under.
