Every dog lover should get to experience this… 🐕 Every morning at 6am I get to feed 80 street dogs. 🥘 We actually cook food for 1300 street dogs daily. It looks like the highlight of their day but it also the best part of my day ❤️

Well-written, clearly argued, and yes, harrowing account of the disastrous events in Ukraine this past week. The one glimmer of light being Britain's 'commendable response'. Do read.

A 90 second tour of some of our very sickest new arrivals. Every dog in this video would be in huge trouble (a couple would be dead) were it not for the medial care. Some very special dogs here ❤️

You know, the thing is, I had drafted this piece a month ago, and then never published it, because I thought maybe it was too mean.

OK. We know the Satirist. We know its love for smut, puns, nudge-nudgery and double entendres. What do we think this adornment of the ‘Chit-Chat’ column might mean:

Rereading Sam Leith’s Haunted Wood. Realisation that Tom the Sweep’s wicked guvnor and Nigel Molesworth’s head master share the name Grimes’. But so does Waugh’s splendid neerdowell.

a grandmotherly woman just got booted from the Trump rally for protesting, and she went out like a hero talking trash and flipping the double bird

@victorianlondon.bsky.social Flecknoe is a joy. I'm second to none in discerning doubles entendres, but reading the quote in context, I think it’s all literal: the watermen, you’ll know, were the male equal of Billingsgate fish-fags when it came to abuse. So sometimes a handle is only a handle.

Who'd have thought, such distinguished antecdents: Richrd Flecknoe ‘Diarium’ 1656 ‘Friday the twentieth of September (if day o’th’ month I well remember)’ Temptations ‘Papa Was a Rolling Stone’ 1972: ‘It was the third of September That day I'll always remember, yes I will’

Elizabethan playhouses were supplied by a network of tailors, merchants & craftswomen. Their names survive in records, but little is known about their lives. I’m working on new research that brings the stories of these makers & traders centre stage. Here is the project in biscuit (cookie) form. 🍪

In my latest round of ‘Slang Knows’ best, I offer *ballie up* to put on a balaclava with criminal intent, in order to perform a burglary, robbery, daylight murder, rape, or any other crime that employs the wearing of a balaclava to ensure the perpetrator’s anonymity. Wotcher reckon, Tommo?
