Even on the dullest wettest morning this mural at the Pioneer club in St Albans (where the band rehearsed as teenagers)never fails to cheer me up

So many eighties pop songs are brilliantly weird - Duran Duran, Dollar, Tears for Fears - you often listen to them and you can’t really hear someone sitting alone with an acoustic guitar. There’s no ‘genesis’ as it were. You don’t hear the seams. The Reflex by Duran Duran, say. What a mad song.

Oliveiros, Riley, Radigue - all just kept chasing that perfect tone. SADE ffs. But this only works for people who know what they're doing and want to keep doing it, mind. Bowie took his eye off the ball, then thankfully remembered again. Slayer, Metallica missed the Maiden memo and fucked it.

Real fucking craft. Two of the best performances I have EVER seen were Jimmy Cliff and Ernest Ranglin, both at the time in their sixties. Francois Kerorkian remains in the absolute god league of DJs in his seventies.

Iron Maiden. The Fall. Motorhead. Judas Priest. Keenan Ivory *Waynes*. Come on. It keeps getting better....What do you even want? Do you even know what you want? Do you actually know what you want? You do not know what you want. I know what I want.

Every year the same. Clocks go back - *time itself* manipulated- ‘for farmer’. And every year the farmer next door stays in bed. Luxuriating in slumber; delighting in nod; feasting on lethargy. His fields? Fallow. His livestock unattended; his fine machines rusting. RISE MAN! Sew, gather *make hay*

A pint of Fuller’s ESB (Bruce Dickinson’s all time favourite beer, pop pickers) at The Parcel Yard. One of the greatest London station pubs and certainly my favourite station pub. #kingscross #ironmaiden

Seriously Partridge night last night. Drove my eldest to a party in Diss. No point driving back home as over an hour away and by the time I get back I’d need to turn around. Solitary curry. sheer 1987 in every regard. Lamb tikka vindaloo; saag; keema naan. Only customer. Sideways rain

If ‘Charlie Bingham’ was called CHARLES BINGHAM it would have to be game pie instead of fish pie. And he’d have to get rid of the branding and have something like ‘CHARLES BINGHAM - AT THE CENTRE OF YOUR TABLE’ or something Probably wouldn’t do as well though.

Or admitted to ‘Casualty’ after accidentally burning down the house he robbed. But the old lady who he left is just a few cubicles down, and that Charlie bloke’s suspicions are aroused. 😅

The one on the right looks like something from a 1994 standalone Bill episode. Scottish. Questioned by Tosh Lines. ‘Maybe I did… maybe I *didnae*…I cannae remember *theatrical yawn* etc

Callum Turner, Jack Lowden, and Josh O’Connor will all apparently be doing their final screen tests to play 007 in the next week.

‘Pumpkin farms’ are such a ludicrous rip off. Pay some mad farmer in Swaffham or Diss seventy pounds to scatter supermarket pumpkins over a muddy field that your kids pick up in the howling wind. Pay the farmer

Please, just once in my life can I hear someone gravely speak of someone else by saying "they've had a menty b"/"they've suffered a menty b"
