interesting how there seems to be a trend lately in movies about a woman who, like, makes a golem out of mashed potatoes or whatever, and he's still kinder and more fuckable than any human man she knows. wonder what that's all about..........................

According to MIT News, Margaret Hamilton died at the age of 90. "A profoundly influential computer scientist best known for leading the software engineering team at MIT’s Instrumentation Lab during NASA’s Apollo program". This famous photo 🔽 inspired the For All Mankind character Margo Madison.

The glorious @hillmurray.bsky.social on Fresh Air delivered in the ways Murray does in every way that any Murray Hill Content does for me: making me feel less alone, less an outlier, and more sure I deserve to be met on my terms & not those imposed by anyone else. "I got emotional" is an under-sell.

Hypothetically, if some natural disaster or a fire or something shuts down your *entire* studio lot, and it is entirely dedicated to one of TV/streaming or features...isn't that a hell of a problem when your megastudio accounts for 40% of Hollywood output?

Why break down and shift and set back up a bunch of shows actively on existing stages to another lot for the sake of doing the studio lot organization version of shifting a spreadsheet column?

Things Gavin Newsom has vetoed this week: -A ban on secretly recording people with smart glasses -A ban on ICE agents working for the state government -A ban on websites selling your data -A bill giving native tribes more say over water rights -A bill protecting transgender healthcare providers

Stay tuned for more on this from mainstream reporting hopefully later today, but Bob's got the gist of it; last week, it appears that ICE began disappearing people from the Online Detainee Locator System the moment they get a final order of removal. Yes, this is as deeply screwed up as it sounds.

I am not friends with Ed Brubaker, but have multiple sources on the Criminal set who did not witness ANY of what was alleged, and say he got fired for being a giant asshole and terrible assistant. Watch for a truly *unhinged* email to come out where said person insists he should be made an EP.

I was in that line! It was already snaking back about a quarter after 8am and there were some issues with cutting or warping the line. The Kirlia line after was super a crush risk since it was inside. I think it was smart to not try today but they needed an activity/task buffer for sure

The people in bright, primary color shirts need experienced leads also wearing bright, primary color shirts. “Experienced leads” being people who know pop culture conventions specifically, not just trade shows that also happen in that building.

The smartest thing that Pokémon Company can do is send *everyone* an option to have the ENTIRE 12-pin set shipped to them “for the cost of shipping”. Do a production run reorder if necessary. Crater the scalper/resale market for them. The simplest solution to a massive PR nightmare. #pinrally #pxp

Look at posts about the event. It has been a series of lines made sentient that then mutate, around which occasional fun emerges. Who did the Line People trust? The “blue shirt” whose like had been directing them all day, or the plainclothes person with a walkie suddenly shouting at them?

That the previous year, the Pin Rally was 6 pins and this year exploded to 12??? That’s ambition bordering on hubris for a first-year “spinoff” event whose purpose was to expand access/attendance. The biggest event management problem to have is your attendees not knowing who to listen to about what

I’ve got reliable sources indicating the reason fans suddenly saw many/most of the pin rally stations abruptly close had nothing to do with running out, it was because the fire marshal was onsite and insisted those lines be shut/dispersed immediately or else the entire event would be shut down.

Case in point: on Friday, a friend told me they saw a big line up for the Kirlia pin rally stop despite a “closed for today” sign. A volunteer “blue shirt” was snaking an orderly line and people were happily waiting calmly. A “staff” badged person came up and shouted “DISPERSE IMMEDIATELY.”

Loads of photos abound for all manner of other San Diego Comic-Con-scale line apocalypses, from the Pokémon Museum exhibit that had a bizarrely small person limit for the inside of one of the bigger, light-touch attractions on their show floor. You’d think it was Hall H for a Marvel presentation.

Many avoidable “people moving and managing” problems throughout the weekend speak to not hiring experienced people to coordinate and manage high demand attractions of common types in a convention context. Multifandom, gaming, & anime cons have been handling this successfully for YEARS and at scale.

THAT SAID…Pokémon Company or the contractor they had running all of this completely botched avoidable issues. Look for the *complete lack* of line tape on the floor for areas they had to have projected high demand for pins…or they would not have made hundreds and hundreds if not thousands of each.

Peter Cullen was a tremendously kind, warm man whose heart was connected to every interaction. Peter revered his brother Larry, who made treating others with compassion and empathy his ethos. Peter’s performances were and are legendary *because* of Larry telling him “be strong enough to be gentle.”

RIP Peter Cullen. This scene went SO much harder than it had any right to, because of his performance.

this affects new applicants as well as renewals, and will cascade into major issues worse than we have already seen over the last year and a half. These are all people who “did it the right way“ too, and work in myriad crucial industries, including healthcare.
