This is how the state manufactures an excuse for its violence. How it justifies its actions by smearing its victims. How it sets up the idea that if a victim did something either illegal or that is deemed immoral by some people, they deserved what was done to them.

This administration is A LOT of shitty things...but the shittiest thing it is is a barely disguised (if at all) White Nationalist Attempted Takeover. This administration is racist as hell. They don't care about anyone, but they're scared of and particularly hate POC.

Something important to understand about ICE thugs in the Twin Cities is that they're harassing innocent kids and parents at bus stops and schools every single day. Even after the Pretti shooting. It's terrorism.

The black community is well versed in this. The goons thought a wallet was a gun. They thought a cell phone was a gun. They thought a can of beer was a gun. They thought pulling out their ID from a pocket was a gun. It's never been good in this country.

I'm a journalist and attorney, not an activist, so I've no answers on what Americans should do right now. I only know this: Donald Trump is attempting to incite a civil war so he can cancel all future elections, and he will keep executing citizens until that outcome is achieved.

My college friend passed away yesterday from metastatic breast cancer. She was 49. We were texting just the day before. I’m not in the inner circle where family, colleagues, and best friends are, but she was truly a wonderful people and teacher and I am bereft.
