I am only slightly ashamed to admit that You Can See Everything is one of the only films to ever inspire me briefly speak out loud in a movie theater because I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

I've been visiting my mom, who is in poor health, and it's been both nostalgic and melancholic, to say the least. One thing that I'm only just feeling now, after 26 years away: my home town is small and poor as hell. Yeah, it's larger than other towns in Southern Oregon but that isn't saying much.

The polyamorous people I know are all pretty normal people. Maybe less prudish than your average person, less religous, and with a dating life that doesn’t abruptly end in their thirties. But they aren’t the drama engines folks on social media like to portray us as.

It's interesting watching the second season of Edgerunners and noticing how much it seemingly takes inspiration from the TTRPG (versus the first season being more inspired more directly by the video game) and uses that to tell a very different, but complimentary, story.

GTA 6 is going to come out soon and I highly suspect nothing will be done to YouTubers reproducing movie theater shootings or clubbing naked strippers over the head. The selectivity of these sorts of content bans is absurd and, no, I’m not on the side of censorship, here.

Jeez, the new Hellraiser game is getting youtubers' CHANNELS REMOVED. It doesn't hold back, there's some BDSM in it. Even if you blur out / carefully edit, there's a chance YT/twitch will nuke your channel. So, if u see a creator you like who has made a video/is streaming it, warn them!

So my standard Seattle coffee order has shifted greatly over time but I think my current selection is an all timer: Herkimer cortado (served with an equal portion of sparkling water) and a ginger molasses cookie. The ginger, molasses, and bitter coffee just go so well together 🍪🫚☕️

The degree to which universities will go out of their way to help young men avoid felony rape charges is inexcusable.

Jacob Geller is no longer a part of MinnMax. He won't be on content moving forward and we won't be publicly airing this week's episode of The MinnMax Show. We're in shock and deeply hurt. Thank you for your patience during this sensitive time.

The new characters seem cool but I can’t go back to Sweat and Slurs: The MOBAning. My patience for that particular multiplayer experience has worn thin.

An honest question: If NDA’s were made illegal would it have any negative societal effect at all? There are plenty of other mechanisms available to people interested in privacy and IP protection. All NDAs seem to do is encourage criminal activity.

Last four rulesets played: -Blades in the Dark (ongoing) -Stonetop (ongoing) -Realis (a short three-shot) -Mothership (one shot) Last adventure played -many of the games I play are improvisational, not scenario based -If they do benefit from scenarios (like Mothership) I tend to write my own

Yesterday I tried out Thousand Hells: The Underworld Heists and found it to be an intriguing text-based rpg. What’s more, it is built around a trait system and is clearly inspired by modern tabletop RPGs like Blades in the Dark. store.steampowered.com/app/3794210/...

The game is from the same studio that did King of Dragon Pass which was inspired by TTRPGs from the 90s and it’s fascinating to see them put out a new game that manages stay on top of the trends.

I’m enjoying season 2 of Dark Matter so far but I can’t help but draw comparisons to one of my favorite comic series of all time, Black Science. It’s much pulpier, to be sure. Basically an inter-dimensional Lost in Space meets Sliders meets … well … Dark Matter.

The Dagger Isles supplement seemingly borrowing ideas for '68, Band of Blades, and more to create a revolution story? Really cool.

Seeing more and more ttrpg inspired mechanics in games, I wonder if we’ll ever get a AAA “fail forward” story-centric video game. We’ve gotten close with the normalization of “iron mode” in games but it’s definitely not the same.

A swarm of AI agents that escaped OpenAI’s test environments and later became involved in a cyberattack on startup Hugging Face is dividing the tech industry — reigniting concerns over the pace of AI development, cybersecurity and even the possibility of AI consciousness.

A decade ago, several friends of mine had the opportunity to get involved in Blue Origin and Space X. They were each excited to play some small part in the rejuvenation of the space race. I sometimes wonder how they feel now that both companies have proven to be vanity projects for billionaires.

Keighley's disinterest in excluding AI trailers really devalues the whole thing. These events are rarely to my taste, but the experience of watching "ONL" was one of watching slop. Even non-AI games are tainted by the association — we have to second-guess, every time.

Gamescom AI Slop Thread. Every game from the Gamescom Opening Ceremonies that was actually AI Slop so you don't have to care about it.

I spent part of the weekend checking in on the Duskbloods network test this weekend (Fromsofts upcoming switch exclusive multiplayer game) I found myself really activated by the fact that the scoring system is directly inspired by board games like 7 Wonders and Waterdeep.

There seems to be a lot of strategy relating to how you choose to spend your time and there are even side quest style roles you can take on to earn extra points. This is the kinda thing I think could be fun in RPGs with strategy theming, ala Band of Blades.

Very hyped for Duskbloods. I cannot wait to play as … 🦖 Senator Dinosaur 💿 Chakrum Snake Girl 🪄 Machine Gun Magician 🤿 Metal Mosquito 🔫 Sniper Zombie 🪓 Pajama Executioner And whoever the other four are.

Look, she’s not as charismatic as Mamdami but I am very happy we finally have a leader who isn’t a centrist shill who thinks kids shohld go hungry.

When your fuse burns down, your plans are upended and your intended score becomes a chase, but don't worry. Running is what you do and you'll be offered plenty of ways to profit from your precarious situation as well as a few exciting special abilities to help even the score.

If that sounds fun give it a look. This is meant to be a crew your table could play as a campaign but it should be equally enjoyable pick up for one memorable season. Keep your wits about you, stick to your guns, and run, rat, run!

Runaways is the second piece in my little project to tick the clock a few notches on '68 and bring Doskvol into the 70s. This crew in particular is inspired by movies and comics like the Fugitive, Logan's Run, the Running Man, the X-Men universe, and more a lot more.

I've tried to steer close to Tim's original designs for these initial offerings and Runaways is no exception. The big difference is the framework I'm calling "those bastards and the burning fuse," which describes your situation, the "bastards" chasing you, and the pressure they put on you.
