Imagine the uproar if someone banned lifted pick-up trucks from an area on account of them not fitting with the character of existing vehicles in a neighbourhood. Yet this is routinely done for new homes, in a housing crisis. Absurd.

Every big paper has run a story like this in recent years. Why nothing changes: “The state can’t add more crosswalks, reduce the number of lanes or lower the speed limit on Union Avenue, all of which would take time and money,“ said the state DOT, which owns the road. 🔓: www.wsj.com/us-news/the-...

Average hourly earnings, adjusted for inflation, fell 0.5 percent in September and are now back to where they were in January, 2025. That means that Americans, on average, have experienced zero real wage growth since Trump returned to office.

Looks like the $3 million + that James Dolan raised for pro-surveillance gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman wasn't enough. Dolan is holding a $10K/head fundraiser for him at MSG, per the @nypost.com. At a Knicks pre-season game.

It is straight up *insanity* to talk about engineering our society away from physical activity without mentioning what civil engineers in the US *actually do,* day in and day out. Is this actually invisible to these people?

The whole analysis starts and ends here. If you're fishing for other explanations, as The Times seemingly does here, you've missed the story about how baseless conspiracy theories infects right-wing urban planning.

Here's a schematic of the work of Donald Appleyard that ALL serious transportation experts & urbanists should know but I'd wager 90% DO NOT - including many of my best friends working in the field. Want to know what he did? Rather than me explain just view the video in the attached post below!

Is it stunning? Or is it something literally every sentient person knew already? Something that the media should have been able to point out a long time ago, without waiting for an official admission?
