My annual reminder that pumpkin spice is a collection of common household spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, mace (which is kind of a lie as mace is just the outside of a nutmeg), ginger, and sometimes allspice. There is no pumpkin or actual pumpkin flavor in anything labelled PUMPKIN SPICE.

It's not enough to be against AI, you need to be pro art. You need to be a champion of the art you love, you need to share that passion and joy, and do what you can to support the artists who make it, because it's not enough to hate AI, to hate what it's doing to art and media; you gotta love.

The fact that the Pope saying some basic Christian stuff is considered a political attack against Trump and MAGA clearly shows the anti-Christian nature of the regime.

Mike Johnson on the Pope: "If you wade into political waters, you should expect some political response & the Pope has received some. Frankly I was taken a bit aback by him saying something about 'those who engage in war, Jesus doesn't hear their prayers' or something. There's 'just war' doctrine.'"

I do not want it on my phone. I do not want it in my home. I do not want it in my brain. I do not want its supposed “gain.” Not in a book. Not “take a look!” Not in my art. Not any part. I do not want it here or there. I DO NOT WANT IT ANYWHERE.

No, I don’t want AI to write for me. Summarize for me. Generate for me. Revise for me. Communicate for me.“Think” for me. Blur the lines for me. Make decisions for me. Influence reality for me. __________ for me. “Be” for me. This is how we lose ourselves. I don’t want it.

Whole Foods AI stores were entirely Indians watching on video feeds and ringing you up. Waymos have live human support partially driving them. And the AI that has “Hollywood shaking in its boots” is…stock footage. With face replacement. Yeah. We are sooooooo cooked, AI bros. Call me when it works.

From the above piece: “I hopped over to Seedance’s website and it only took 10 seconds to find green screen footage of two stuntmen performing the same fight choreography we see in the Cruise vs Pitt scene.” youtu.be/AKDWuFSy9DA

1) the outrage was over the fact that it's a *huge* likeness rights violation. 2) The fear here is the blue collar jobs we'll lose in the industry if something isn't done. 3) The clip is just a hastily edited fight between two of the most photographed men on the planet doing what they do for real.

The New York Times@nytimes.com

It took only a 15-second clip of Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt duking it out on a crumbling rooftop — made by A.I. with a two-sentence prompt and the click of a button — to draw swift outrage, and sizable fear, from Hollywood. "It’s nothing short of terrifying," one scriptwriter said.

Remember kids, in the year of our Lord 2026, if you see someone stealing food, NO YOU FUCKING DIDN’T

Jimmy Thomson@jameswsthomson.com

So someone was unsuccessful in trying to steal $300 worth of food from a business owned by the Sobey family (net worth $5.5 billion), and the cops thought it warranted a news release

I don't know, after this weekend and the no-getting-around-it way the President is starving people, all this will-they-won't-they cave stuff feels like an attempt to go into tomorrow saying "We tried, but the Republicans said no" making the whole week REPUBLICANS STARVE POOR TO PROTECT EPSTEIN FILES

"but art should be accessible" it is, you can learn to draw, paint, collage, sculpt, make pixels. right now, starting today. art has never been more accessible monetarily nor physically than it is now in this age. access to artist labor and machine production is not an accessibility issue.

Just a reminder to check for your name in this list of books that OpenAI trained from. If your name is there, they probably owe you several thousand dollars. OpenAI cried that if everyone eligible author files, the company will go bankrupt, so I'm alerting every author I have ever spoken to.

The amount of open hatred for Muslims in response to Zohran Mamdani's win is repugnant, and I'm not surprised because it's always been a bubbling hate under the surface, but it's still disappointing to see how many are happy to drop pretences and spit that bile through bared teeth.

You are just one subscription away from not only never having to see these assholes, but also keeping them from ever seeing you. We don’t win by fighting them; we win by depriving them of oxygen over here.

Adam Kinzinger@adamkinzinger.substack.com

I’m not sure why Gavin Newsome doesn’t activate the rest of his army guard to prevent the president from it or force him to overrule it…. Then fight on the second amendment guaranteeing a state a right to a militia. How can a state have a militia if the president can simply federalize it
