I’m not sure why Gavin Newsome doesn’t activate the rest of his army guard to prevent the president from it or force him to overrule it…. Then fight on the second amendment guaranteeing a state a right to a militia. How can a state have a militia if the president can simply federalize it

I'm not sure if this escalation is the solution because this type of escalation is what gives Drumpf a woodie. This is what he wants In the end it's ICE not upholding the law and Drumpf wants this escalated before the actual court cases happen and heads will roll around him instead

Usually means reporting to your unit. This could mean sleeping in the armory or depending on their distance from the unit they might be able to go home and return in the morning

He DID call him. He's repeatedly said that trump didn't say anything about sending in the guard and was very cordial. He didn't want to talk about the LA riots at all. Trump is a coward to his face, like most bullies

I was wondering why Newsom didn’t activate the CA Nat’l Guard to deploy in helping Canada with its current wildfire situation. Returning the favor would be nice. The smoke is effecting weather in the states! I’m sure they’d appreciate the help 😃

It’s our fire season here in CA as well. SoCal is currently experiencing drought conditions, with limited rainfall. It’s probably not a good time for our Gov. to send them up north.

I seriously doubt they would follow Newsom's orders. Nevertheless, Newsom should do it. He should give those orders just so we can all see who and what these "brave men and women in uniform" actually stand for. I think those on the left would be very disappointed, but I would LOVE to be wrong!

The national guard demographically is a little older and all of these are Californian. I know that does not preclude maga types but less likely. These are school teachers and mechanics and such. These aren't 18 year old high school drop outs from alabama (sorry blue alabama)

LA County has about 44 LE agencies to call upon. They don't need the Guard or Marines who aren't integrated into the Mutual Aid system led by the LA Sheriff. In 1992 LAPD was a mess but it has been cleaned up and this is nothing like the King riots. This is a few blocks downtown.

That’s what I’ve been saying. Why did he just hand them over? Trump had no grounds to take them over. He should have refused and forced trump to take it to court which would take months, if not years to play out.

That’s certainly one distraction. Another is that as of Fri. the SCOTUS overturned 2 lower courts handing DOGE permission for our Social Security info. And the Big Bogus Bill still contains provision 70302 - kneecapping courts ability to hold them in contempt,+ retroactive for all in process now.

The problem is, the “Insurrection Act” (which Trump hasn't yet publicly declared he is invoking, Sections 251 through 255) fails to adequately define or limit when it may be used and instead gives the president significant power to decide when and where to deploy U.S. military forces domestically.

I get it, but I think we need to support almost anyone working to stop this madness. I know that some think if we can come part way to some of these people we can convert them. I doubt it. Positions based on delusions and propaganda aren't going to be easily dispelled, save by cold reality.

Yes, it is not cost free: responding in that way to Trump's provocations would incur a major cost to the state at a time of budgetary crisis in CA. What he is doing is mobilizing current state police officers for a "surge" into LA,which is actually a more fiscally responsible and wiser option.

Because it is extraordinarily costly to the state to mobilize the guard, and extraordinarily costly to the service members and to their families to disrupt their lives for an extended period of time. One should not do this lightly.

I agree with your principle, but to the boots on the ground, a curfew ‘concedes’ the reason for it is the military action the tyrant is just trying like h*# to push into martial law. It may be just pumping the brakes, but it’s needed time.

I have been arguing this for a longtime. States dont really have militias. Most NG (probably all) can't operate on their own anyways due to the way they are organized.

Well, as you know, most of the members of the National Guard have other jobs, are attending school or stay home to take care of children or other family members. Not to mention the financial cost to the state. I usually agree with you but you are off base here

Couple of reasons how’s he doing all this and getting away. First, there were enough people to vote him in to begin with. Second he is ruthless and callous to not care about anyone else. And there are enough leaches to go along with it to get their own piece of the pie.

Absolutely correct. Federalism , Equal State Sovereignty and 2nd Amendment gives Newsome the authority to repeal an invasion by the Federal Government. If this is the flashpoint for the civil war, California is the place for it.
