This is wonderful

Nick Lloyd@spaincivilwartours.bsky.social

This new electoral vídeo from Pedro Sánchez is quite something. Standing in front of Guernica defending the anti-war stance of his government, limiting military expenditure, denouncing the atrocity of Gaza. English subtitles.

The man's a hero #nzpol "John, a few weeks off turning 82, said simply getting up to change a light bulb was a hazard these days and climbing a ladder as high as 8m scared him “shitless”. But he was adamant he would not involve anyone else."

RNZ have, if anything, increased their promotion of the views of the TPU and their subsidiaries since the publication of Nicky Hagers latest book. Shame on them #nzpol

Max Soar@maxsoar.bsky.social

RNZ asking the Sensible Sentencing Trust and TPU for comment on the new attack billboards is yet more evidence they learned nothing from Dirty Work. These are bad-faith PR orgs and RNZ is willfully running cover for them.

someone in our whanau reached to us for help. Had to have all her teeth taken out (major infection etc). MSD lent money for extraction but will not lend for new false teeth until that paid off. (will take years to do that). The insanity of this shit. She has no assets, on a benefit. VOTE GREEN.💚

It was Ani o’brien who first posted the video of Orini et al with the gangs. Why did no news media mention this? Did anyone read Nicky Hager’s book? #nzpol

Genuinely I don't know that it comes across to people who haven't been here to watch how almost unbelievable this was, just people taking something that looked impossible and dragging it kicking and screaming all the way to inevitability.

You know what would seriously "disrupt" our political landscape? No, not TOP, or whatever their financiers call themselves these days. No it'd be Green becoming the second biggest party in Parliament. That genuinely seems a realistic goal. Vote. And Vote Green.

Watching this and thinking about my father and his father who both lost fingers in workplace accidents. It is why I support unions and will always vote for left wing parties

Lula Goes HARD

And, most importantly, thanks to the vital mobilisation of young people. Students took to the streets the day after the first round elections, kickstarting massive movements that saw the largest public demonstrations in Brazil since the days of Diretas Já at the end of the military dictatorship.

It's really important to pay attention to the fact that Lula beat the fascist candidate not by compromising and trying to meet fascist voters in the middle, but by sticking to his guns, promising prosecutions for election interference, and mobilising his own voters to turn out in greater numbers.

Brazil was of two huge election results today—alongside the defeat of the nationalist, authoritarian leader of Serbia: "the slate of candidates selected by protesting students had won at least 135 seats in Serbia’s 250-member legislature" www.nytimes.com/2026/10/25/w...

I am still very nervous but it looks like Lula may have done it.

With almost 76% of votes counted, Lula's lead over Bolsonaro is only growing. Polymarket now lists Lula's chances of victory at 98%. It's over. Lula defeats Bolsonaro.

🧵Yesterday, British Columbia elected a Conservative majority government that ran on a platform of tax cuts and accelerating the pillaging of nature, or what the party calls “natural resources exploitation.” They also ran on attacking Indigenous sovereignty and trans rights.

It is the fault of the state that people cannot vote when they want to because we do not support them, it is the fault of society when we lead lies become truth, not the fault of the person who needs help or is feed those lies. Blame those who can make the change, not those who need it.

Voter suppression - it's the favourite tool of the right

Cas Mudde@casmudde.bsky.social

Brazilian media report on a dubious lack of public busses on voting day. This already happened in the last presidential election and seems an attempt by pro-Bolsonaro forces to keep Lula voters from voting.

I would genuinely be totally fine for men to be disenfranchised. The outcome of only women being allowed to vote would be an astronomically better world to the extent that it would totally outweigh the democratic outrage.

Just had a long talk with my niece, who works with newly released prisoners. A lack of funding has made it almost impossible to find them work, or somewhere to live, or mental health support, or drug addiction treatment, or anything that could help them stay out of prison #nzpol

It costs so much money to keep someone in prison but shoplifters are kept in remand for several months waiting for their court case. Worried about gangs? Prison is a place that is an excellent recruitment centre #nzpol

When political scientists first raised concerns about this new restriction last year we were told we were being ‘alarmist’ to suggest tilting the playing field unfairly like this by one party can undermine the legitimacy of the election out come for all Kiwis in a tight race I’m still ‘alarmed’…

Bronwyn Hayward@bmhayward.bsky.social

Last day! NZ National restricted general roll voting regulations for the first time in 40 yrs To reporters please don’t repeat spin- the change won’t speed up counting - And let’s not shrug & say just 2% fewer voters enrolled It’s 300,000 NZers prevented from voting That’s an entire NZ town

Katya reposted

Look, if all they had changed was just enrolling and voting on polling day that would have been one thing, but stopping enrolling TWO WEEKS before election day is outrageous and even previous Nats who stopped prisoners voting had not taken such an outrageous step We should be angry out loud! #NZPol
