What the Mets did by mediating the transfer of Freddy Peralta between the two eventual pennant winners without really netting anything for him or getting even replacement level production out of him, it’s really art. It’s like a weird version of money laundering where only you go to jail.

Trade some middling prospects for Freddy Peralta, instantly break his whole shit and flop so bad that all of America knows what every inch of your ass looks like, trade Peralta for some maybe-better prospects to a team that fixes him instantly. Yeah I'd say this is outcome is a big win for the Mets.

The people who work for hospitals sometimes know how claims work. Those who work for an independent provider almost never do. Those who work for your insurance company know some things but not everything. Being patient, kind and persistent can help you avoid paying stuff you may not need to.

If you get a crazy high medical bill when you are actually insured, chances are somebody fucked up and you don’t have to pay full freight

question for the audience: if you were ultra rich (let’s say $25M), what completely frivolous thing are you buying?

If you are not doing this you are basically just at the mercy of human hierarchical decision making

i think if you want to make the world better you have to start by understanding it, and that means--to be blunt--fucking charts, because large data sets and careful studies are one of the ways you escape the mind-prison known as "my gut tells me this is true, shut the fuck up"

Google search AI is the equivalent of introducing someone to professional football by only allowing them to watch the last 15 years of the Jets.

You could not live with your own failure. Where did that bring you? Back to me.

Just to be very explicit, my claim is that the one simplest and best explanation for this, which resolves any apparent strangeness entirely, is that whoever is “speaking” in LLM output is a fictional character, and the real life thing called an LLM is a machine for writing lil stories about that guy

Rooting for the Rays to eliminate the Yankees was nice. Rooting against the Yankees and against talking points for the dumbest Red Sox fans who blame everything on “analytics”

That's the second time this year I've seen an MLB team screw up a scenario my daughter's 12U team gets right every time (covering third with a runner on second during a bunt).

Was curious about the whole going "we need to be where we were 40 years ago" thing. Found this from the ONS - real disposable incomes today are almost twice that of 1986. Obviously there's a lot that needs fixing (housing!). But I feel like this is relevant...? www.ons.gov.uk/economy/gros...

I'm not sure the skills knowledge and abilities required to manage agents doing a software project are currently that different from software engineering from 10 years ago
