I submitted the 39,079 word manuscript of my first book, "Insupportable: Why We're Losing People to Lies & What We Can Do About It" to my publisher Iguana Books this morning. 1/

In 2019, Shane Gillis was hired as a #SNL cast member. Some past homophobic and racist remarks surfaced, there was public criticism and protest, and he was fired from SNL before making a single episode.
Then Lorne Michaels brilliantly decides to have Gills host SNL THREE times.
Ah, Lorne Michaels did not want to fire Shane Gillis, but was forced to by NBC's executives.
I'm looking forward to Lorne Michaels' retirement for a number of reasons, but one of them is definitely that I hope to never see Shane Gillis on the #SNL stage again.
I did wind up watching the #SNL episode last night. In it, host Shane Gillis comes out on stage in a baggy t-shirt & jeans & lumbers through a monologue of misogynist, lazy jokes, while musical guest Rosalia serves up her song not only in a beautifully staged way & attired in a tutu, but en pointe.
Anyone on WikiTree? I absolutely love their aim to map out the entirety of human genealogy via collaborative effort, with just one page for each person.
On Ancestry, everyone has to build their own family tree and most information is paywalled.
#cooperationisbetterthancapitalism
If you really want to solve problems with human behavior, you have to let go of winning arguments or "educating people". You just have to create the conditions that lead to behavior change, which sometimes means just getting enough power to compell it, other times, taking action that feels indirect.
Barack Obama got the Nobel Peace Prize.
Donald Trump got... this.
Also, this statue was in *Denmark's parliamentary building* and is now temporarily in the *EU parliamentary building*. This is how much contempt all decent, responsible people have for TFG, even at the highest levels of power.
An anti-Trump statue by Jens GalschiΓΈt that formerly stood in Denmark's parliamentary building has been temporarily moved to the EU Parliament in Strasbourg. Called "The Orange Plague", it shows a gold-plated Trump playing golf while holding the scales of justice on the shoulders of a smaller man.
EASILY the most gob smacking thing β and fail β Iβve witnessed in more than two decades of covering Congressional hearings

These are two mockups of my upcoming first book's cover. Iguana Books' designer created them based on a concept and some specifications I came up with. What's everyone think? Should I go with the bolder sans serif title font or the lighter serif font?
#thisishappening#firstimeauthor#IguanaBooks
I'm leaning towards the bolder title font myself. I also think my name looks better in the lighter serif font.

DoorDash spent $1.4M trying to stop Zohran Mamdani from becoming mayor.
This week's historic $131.5M enforcement action against DoorDash for underpaying NYC delivery workers shows why.
Yet another reminder that the only thing that can beat organized money is organized people.
Effective 2025 federal tax rates paid by these corporations:
Alphabet: 8.01%
AT&T: 4.6%
Meta: 3.57%
General Motors: 3.09%
Amazon: 1.37%
Exxon Mobil: 1.31%
Disney: -1.57%
CVS Health: -3.88%
Income tax rate paid by the typical American: 14.5%
This is what a rigged system looks like.
Donald Trump's portrait should not hang in the White House. No publicly owned property of any kind should bear his name. He should not be invited to any events involving the other living ex-presidents. He should not receive a state funeral.

Today as I passed a young boy of perhaps seven in No-Frills, I heard him say incredulously to his mother, "ALL girls?!" and his mother say, impatiently, "Yes, all girls. All girls have boobs."

Bluesky has switched to an AI-generated Trending topics list, and I hate it. Is there a way to opt out of the AI version without disabling my Trending list entirely? #AIrefusenik#Trending
It is genuinely bizarre that weβve become acclimatized to right wingers throwing a tantrum every time a black person (particularly a black woman) is cast in something, but are also supposed to pretend that this is not racism but related to some other substantive concern.
My revulsion at the mainstream media for participating in the WHCD tonight canβt be overstated. Theyβre laughing at his jokes and shaking his hand? Fuck off. The corporate press is an enemy addicted to access. And this was true before the Ellisonβs started their takeover.
"Pat King, a key figure in the 2022 convoy protests, will be re-sentenced after the Ontario Court of Appeal sided with Crown prosecutors who argued his original punishment was too lenient."
That's some justice you don't see everyday.

These photos were taken from the front porch and rooftop deck of my house in Toronto, Ontario at 11-ish this morning, July 15, 2026. #apocalypticsky#climatecrisis
There was an orange moon visible from the deck when I went out there, but I wasn't quite quick enough to get a photo of it before some clouds drifted over it.
I have the lights on inside the house, because without electric light I can't see to do anything. 2/

I so hope E. Jean Carroll enjoys the hell out of that money. She deserves every penny of it.
I also look forward to seeing TFG, and his estate, paying out on more of his debts and lawsuits, until there's nothing left of his former net worth. #makehimpay
BREAKING:
E. Jean Carroll just received Trump's $5 million β plus interest.
Despite Trump's repeated attempts to block Carroll from receiving the money, $5,625,005.48 was disbursed to Carroll's legal team this week. www.ms.now/news/e-jean-...
i will say lindsey graham being asked by a reporter how mitch mcconnell is doing, answering βi donβt know, iβm going to check right nowβ and then dying is hilarious
I get why conscientious politicians want to take the high road when an awful politician dies, but I think they need to realize that the high road isn't always the best or most responsible path forward. 1/
I got to know Senator Lindsey Graham traveling with him abroad in Afghanistan and Ukraine. We had just met to renew the fight for our Big Tech bill.
Even though we disagreed on much, he was always willing to negotiate, with humor and wit.
My heart goes out to his loved ones.
Those who are dead or teetering on the brink of the grave (i.e., Graham, McConnell, Trump), will never stand trial for what they did. But that doesn't mean we whitewash them once they're gone. 5/
Being a respectful person doesn't just mean respecting those who loved Lindsey Graham. It means respecting the far greater number of people whom Graham harmed, and who need honesty, justice, and change. 6/

Lindsey Graham did some good things, such as supporting Ukraine, but he did far more bad. He supported Trump despite knowing better. He wanted to "level" Gaza, invade Cuba, and bomb Iran. He bragged that the Republican Party was "killing all the right people and lowering taxes". 3/
Good government requires accountability. Corrupt and abusive public officials must face consequences: criminal investigation, charges, trial, sentencing, and public broadcast of what they did. 4/

I'm not saying that Senator Warren should have taken a "LINDSEY GRAHAM CAN ROT IN HELL" low road approach, but rather that there is a middle path available, one on which it is possible to be just and honest towards the living as well as the person who has died. 2/
