And since I said it somewhere else, I’ll say it here: I want a future where the government doesn’t have a right to measure my hormones or chromosomes, and where I can access meaningful healthcare, where my health information remains private, is influenced by best practices and not politics…

Why hello there Bluesky. I’ve heard this is the place to go for people who finally got round to deleting twitter. I wrote this for @thebristolcable.bsky.social about last year's Supreme Court ruling on the meaning of 'sex' and how it has affected trans people: thebristolcable.org/2026/06/i-do...

Staggered that I haven't heard of this before. This is *amazing* and I'm seriously considering making the trip out to Hannover to see it in person
The Facial Expressions of Tethys by artist Julius von Bismarck. A suspended high-sea buoy that moves in real time. Sensors on a twin buoy out in the Atlantic Ocean send live satellite data to motors inside the museum. This makes the indoor buoy copy the exact, real-time movements of the ocean waves.
Shittest Matrix reboot ever

Fantastic long read on the Lebedev-era Standard. Or as the Standard itself describes it (gleefully quoted in the piece itself), “a shameless attempt by a wannabe rival to denigrate London’s newspaper”. www.the-londoner.co.uk/falling-stan...
Great to see @eurcorrespond.bsky.social covering @jonworth.eu's longest train journey project. europeancorrespondent.com/en/r/from-fi...
Many years ago I was working on a story idea based around a God who was omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient and responsive to prayer but nonsentient, with no judgement or awareness. I couldn't make the story work but wish I hadn't given up now.
Also, let's be quite clear about this: generative AI is not conscious and cannot become conscious. It is not actual "artificial intelligence." That is bullshit.

This Friday is my birthday! And my publisher just gave me some *audiobook codes* for The Dragon Has Some Complaints, so I'm celebrating with a giveaway. All you have to do to enter is 1) follow me on here 2) reskeet this post 3) reply naming one of your favorite monsters!
Unveiling the cover for THE DRAGON HAS SOME COMPLAINTS! Garrodigh is a curmudgeonly three-headed dragon who pretends to be tame so he can eat for free at the local dragon-riding academy. Unfortunately, the rider he's assigned to is... a lot. Coming Summer 2026 from DAW (US) and Arcadia (UK)!

Oh shit the person who did this amazing work is (a) on here, (b) seems to have a load more great rabbit-hole content and (c) WHAT THE FUCK HAS HARDLY ANY FOLLOWERS. Alas I don't have any followers either but if you see this please boost them because going by the green bottles post they are boss.
Thanks for reading and sharing.
Three things all around the same time: the Greenham Common Peace Camp. The Miners' Strike. And the sinking of the Rainbow Warrior. My god it's like I was created by a lazy scriptwriter.
As a teenager I picked up an ARC from a secondhand bookshop in London that blew my mind. A few years later I had to buy a new copy as it was falling apart (I'd bought others as gifts, but not for myself). I was shocked to discover quite a lot of changes. I hadn't realised at all.

BARGAIN ALERT! To celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the million-selling tv-bound infuriatingly-inaccurately named Dublin Trilogy, the first three books are a scandalous 99p/99c on kindle. Grab ‘em now and tell a friend! amzn.to/4wI7nhK
Long queue and passport checks at the Lithuanian - Polish border. Looks like the army as well as police ("Border Guard" hi-viz but military fatigues). A proper passport check, too, not just a glance at the covers. @aoifewhite.bsky.social

Of all the uncles out there, this man may have been the uncle-est. The uber uncle. www.ncrabbithole.com/p/the-limous...
I like this idea. I've a suspicion there are some gaps in the numbers but a quick look at some of the big ones suggests it might have legs.
The £2 bus cap was a good start, but the PM can be bolder He should make buses free and pay for it by raising Air Passenger Duty Free transport to work, hospital or the high street in exchange for a slightly more expensive holiday abroad, done for people and the planet, writes UCL's Andrew Percy

If you read the rest of this thread, well, obviously you have only yourself to blame.
Today is the delightful 168th anniversary of the time when Boston Corbett—who seven years later would shoot and kill John Wilkes Booth, who had of course shot and killed Abraham Lincoln—was inspired by the gospel of Matthew to castrate himself with a pair of scissors 🧵

A few days before Christmas 2016, a grey Land Rover paused in front of a bank of mirrored windows at this checkpoint on the border between France and Switzerland. What happened next revealed just how looted art worms its way into museums. A 🧵 about my article: hyperallergic.com/why-do-so-ma...
