This is literally the end of the rule of law. If a President can pardon people committing crimes on his behalf - and the Supreme Court says he himself can't be prosecuted for crimes committed as part of his job - then the government becomes a lawless entity able to violate our rights without limit.
New: White House attorneys are evaluating whether to issue mass pardons to junior staffers. https://www.washingtonsun.com/whitehouse/white-house-weighing-mass-pardons-for-junior-staff

Total respect for NBC's Monica Alba, who asked Trump exactly the question he needs to answer. By refusing to answer, and attacking her, he has effectively told the world that no, sexual abuse allegations do no mean a thing to him. Imagine if she wasn't there. We'd be the poorer for it.
😳 WOMAN REPORTER: Do sexual abuse allegations mean nothing to you, sir? TRUMP: Wait. Wait! Wait wait wait. Slow down. Who are you with? REPORTER: NBC, sir. But they are very serious sex abuse allegations TRUMP: Quiet! Isn't she a fresh person? You're a horrible little reporter, aren't you?

We were investigating Wedgewood for faking their data and emailed them for comment this morning, ahead of publishing the findings tomorrow. They are now trying to cover up their fraud with the "we were doing a social experiment" excuse. Full story here: blog.fiftyplusone.news/p/fiftypluso...

This is a really fun example of radicalized Right Wing men are LARPing as paramilitary warriors in order to gain social media clout and increase profit while also radicalizing viewers to become violent in a feedback loop that’s already led to violence and increases the likelihood of future violence.

Just watched the new “Musk” documentary — wow. Alex Gibney pulls no punches, letting Musk’s own inner circle tell the story. It’s sharp, unsettling, and impossible to look away. Catch it while you can 👉 nbcnews.com/tech/elon-mu… (nbcnews.com in Bing)

One last thing about X tonight: noting X has 10x the number of regular users than Bluesky means jack shit when a) a shitload are bots, b) the algorithm boosts right-wing content over everything else so actual engagement there sucks, c) 10 million active accounts is more than enough to hang out with.

I left X *because* I had a large following. People told me I was the reason they were staying on there, and I didn’t want to be responsible for 100k+ people sticking around for abuse, CSAM, and Nazis. Simple as that
I left x despite having a large following bc I don’t want to make free content for the world’s wealthiest racist. It’s not worth it to me.

Why would a physical search of Omar’s home in 2026 be relevant to or necessary for an investigation into whether her dad filled out a form incorrectly decades ago?
If there’s evidence of fraud or other financial crimes, let’s see it. But trying to denaturalize and deport a sitting member of Congress over mistakes a parent allegedly made on immigration forms when she was a child is immoral and reprehensible. We can’t stand for it.

The New Yorker gets it: Gibney set out to "solve a mystery" with this film: “How could Musk assume so much power, and why had we given it to him?” The answer: largely through a personal narrative that the film "does an excellent job of expunging." Exactly! www.newyorker.com/culture/the-...

“What most political analysts miss is how strong and specific the authoritarian appeal is for white evangelicals, and how critical it is to at least weaken it. The roots of this confluence go back decades, if not centuries, and are deeply entwined with white evangelical theology itself.”
