What pretty clearly happened here is Marist — rightly or wrongly — does not trust their raw Jackson number over Collins, but the LV screen they had to apply to get it in the range they wanted made the governor and GCB result become downright goshdarn silly
Marist Poll of Maine Senate is Jackson +2 with LV +9 with RV Gov is tied with LV 44-44. but LV is Pingree+11 GCB is D+5 with LV and over D+10 with RV

Politico wrote up Zohran playing basketball with the uncovering-a-big-scandal tone the same day the NYTimes wrote up "credible allegation that The President of the United States raped a woman" as a political strategy story. Broken media in a nutshell
New: Mayor Zohran Mamdani and a group of his friends have been secretly using the NYPD Police Academy’s gymnasium in Queens to play pickup basketball — scrambling some operations at the facility. w/ @grahamrayman.bsky.social & Joe Anuta www.politico.com/news/2026/10...

the biggest presidential scandal in history but the political media largely acts as if it's not happening. hasan piker has received more mainstream political media coverage over the last 6 months than trump's connections with epstein has
NEW: "Donald Trump was an active participant in Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse of young women during the mid-to-late 1990s," per new House Judiciary Dem report. Report has new allegation that Trump raped a 24-year-old and then promised the victim a visa & NYU admission, demanding she stay quiet.

The next time you complain about the endless deluge of fundraising texts & spam email from Dem campaigns, keep in mind that it would take *40,000* $25 donations to cancel out 1/445th of what Elon Musk has spent this cycle.
NEW, from Bloomberg News: “Elon Musk has now given more than $445 million in the current election cycle.”
I love how it’s not even a story that the president’s stump speech regularly includes bragging about passing the “oops you just got kicked in the head by a mule does your brain still work” cognitive assessment
Trump: "You know, the first question -- they have a lion, a snake, a giraffe, and a bear. And they say 'which is the snake?' ... by the time you get to number five a lot of people are left out on the road ... I get no credit for it."
A full Picasso drawing — not even just a study — just went for a bit over $100,000, which is obviously a lot of money but I bet a lot of people don’t realize you can get a Picasso work for that much. bsky.app/profile/paul...
Picasso absolutely yes! He was crazy prolific and there’s a ton of inventory so his work sells all the time for low 6 and even 5 figures. Sotheby’s has an auction in early June with 17 Picasso works, only one of which has an estimate over $1 million. www.sothebys.com/en/buy/aucti...
by the end of the day the republicans criticizing the ad will be either totally silent or have fully reversed themselves into a “well it maybe isn’t polite but the REAL problem is [talking point about Acton x]”
New: Here are the right-wing media figures endorsing “despicable” ad from Ohio Republican gubernatorial nominee Vivek Ramaswamy
Cool this is even worse than I thought it would be bsky.app/profile/atru...
JD Vance: "Now the media and the Democrats in the state of Ohio are obsessed because Vivek Ramaswamy had the audacity to run a TV commercial which calls it out like it is and call Amy Acton a liar"
I interned in the Hill circa 2011 for a Democratic congressman and was friendly with a few of the Republican staffers and interns, they were (mostly, some exceptions) normal and were generally a bit embarrassed by some of what they had to do/write I uh don’t think that would be the case anymore
The main story of the GOP over the past decade is the takeover of the party establishment by people who actually believe the nonsense they formerly deployed to rile up the rubes without actually buying into it themselves.

Just been such a revolution in my worldview to realise that people like Musk actually believe this, this isn't just the nonsense they feed the rubes so they can do coldly rational mercantile calculations in smokey rooms among themselves. No. It's rubes all the way down, they're that stupid.

I hardly know how to express this idea because I am not personally embarrassed that Elon Musk is the richest man ever, but I am embarrassed that a verified condition of object reality is that the richest man ever is a dipshit redditor. It’s like he makes being alive feel skeevy.

the routine, pay for play pardons are all by themselves one of the worst corruption scandals in american history!
My brain cannot process this level of corruption. She was being paid $50 million to engineer a pardon from Trump *while working at the Justice Department* as a "Special Government Employee." And it worked. He got the pardon, and she got the money. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/20/u...

Where have you gone, Matt Taibbi, a nation turns its lonely eyes to you
This is a genuine conspiracy, an outrageous attempt to use regime-friendly media to ban unwanted topics. (I also think we should be careful about conflating it with the Meta No Kings account freeze, which seems pretty likely to be an accident. Don’t dilute the real conspiracy with fake ones!)

This is true and true in a way that "well it wasn't actually that broad a decision" misses. Trump v. US was, and has had the effect of, the Roberts Court's political endorsement of total executive lawlessness and corruption far beyond the four corners of any direct application to prosecuting Trump.
The only thing I’ll add to this fine statement is that vindictive prosecutions are now a feature, not a bug, of our constitutional system, thanks to Trump v. United States. Unless and until Congress adopts deep, structural measures, presidential harassment through the criminal system won’t go away.
