Is it woke to care about rape?

Micah@rincewind.run

one side's voters care about sexual assault and one side's voters don't and while I understand that "impossible to say whether this is good or bad" is the standard for the paper of record I think it's clear which side has the moral high ground here

#BrokenTimes: "Republicans have taken a different tack.... It is a question on which the left and right have largely diverged"

These people have grown up with popular culture telling them that having to carry identification (“papers please”) is fascist and un-American, and they decided that is who they wanted to be. MAGA is, at its core, a movement with a central goal of inflicting pain on other people.

Wow, wow, wow. This has always been legally possible but the law has virtually never been enforced — and now this is the SECOND case I've heard of in the last month (first involving a person with a green card) of a noncitizen being charged for failure to carry their papers.

NEWS: ICE gave a Rogers Park man a $130 ticket for not having his papers on him. They rounded him up last week and eventually let him go, but not without a fine that some critics say is un-American. Trump admin enforcing little-used law www.chicagotribune.com/2025/10/13/i...

The 82nd Airborne has faced a lot but has it ever faced combined arms? And by combined arms I mean tattoo sleeves AND ironic beards

I am proud to be born a Muslim. I am proud to be born in Somalia. I am proud to have become an American. None of you can change that no matter how much you rage tweet. Drink some water and touch grass.

Important perspective.

As promised, in light of the WaPo report of Everglades camp detainees being swarmed by mosquitoes in the shower and unable to sleep at night due to being bitten, I want to briefly address concentration camp history and mosquitoes. I won't be comprehensive but will give a few examples. [1/17]

"Moderates" or "centrists" don't have fixed positions. So, you can't actually "meet them where they are" cause political discourse is constantly moving them. And if you keep trying - as Dems do - they will keep moving in the only direction they get pulled, to the right and eventually off the cliff.

Movie you’ve watched more than six times using gifs. (“Hard mode” no Star Wars, Star Trek, or LOTR)

Wonderful thread.

USAID forbidding employees from bringing throwing stars when they came to retrieve their belongings after being fired reminded me, wistfully, of the time my dad got in an argument with a @lufthansa.bsky.social attendant about whether I could bring a flail and longsword onto a flight. Story time? /1
