Replying to @ponett.dog
microsoft is literally doing the exact opposite! they're getting rid of their acquired studios that make oddball smaller scale games and having the ones that remain pivot exclusively to working on big IP projects! they're never gonna let obsidian make something like pentiment again

after almost 16 years my time with id is done as layoffs ravage everyone across the companies. i'm going to be fine money wise, but if you have money to spare, donate it to the game worker hardship fund! uvw-cwa.org/hardship-fun...
In retrospect this is actually a pretty bad skeet cuz really I'm conflating The Recession (AAR and Pure Pwnage) and Post Recession (Xbone fumble, Ross Scott, Bronies and BF chasing COD) as a single time period
Between Xbox very publicly fumbling it, the return of Skrillex, the All American Rejects, Ross Scott and Bronies (in a way) as relevant figures, EA trying to make Battlefield COD levels big again, the upcoming Pure Pwnage revival, we really are reliving the recession again huh?
Shooters are in a weird place where even though you don't see a lot of games in the model of the last big fps paradigm right now (set piece driven games with two weapon limits, regen health and iron sights) those design tropes have seeped their way into almost every other adjacent game
In fact I'll go further and say that I don't think there will be another distinct nostalgic zeitgeist in indie FPS until around 2030, and it will be a game that draws heavily from 7th gen shooters, and most importantly it will be a game that deliberately goes against boomer shooter conventions.
Honestly with how backwards looking culture has been, maybe we need the next generation of kids to go "screw all that old shit"
Man, this is such a nihilistic take. Forget Lord of the Rings. My kids have watched The Wizard of Oz. The Godfather. Planet of the Apes. TONS of classics that are quite a bit older than 30 years, and they’ve enjoyed and appreciated them all.

We have to destroy Polymarket and prediction markets
Polymarket defends the war markets: "After discussing with those directly affected by the attacks, who had dozens of questions, we realized that prediction markets could give them the answers they needed in ways TV news and 𝕏 could not." polymarket.com/event/us-nex...
