I know some folks here follow me from #alamtg / #alameda life. ARPD has decided it's a good time to host an 18+ Harry Potter Night, this November. You can tell them why this is a bad idea: arpd@alamedaca.gov While you're at it, Alameda's last paper of record: editor@alamedapost.com (boosts = 🙇‍♂️)

This moment in time feels right to share the story of how I once spent _days_ trying to figure out where my personal homepage was hosted before eventually figuring out I shoved the whole thing into a custom 404 response in my CDN config. Over a decade strong and never needed a patch.

I continue to believe that one of the very simplest and cheapest ways to radically improve America would be to make Police Departments pay for their own misconduct settlements instead of making cities and states pay it

California has spent over $400 million in settlements for Law Enforcement misconduct since 2010. I know because I built a site to track it: captainacab.com We're updating every week, and slowly expanding across the country. (boosts welcome)

Aella is basically Ghislaine Maxwell for silicon valley and I hope we get ahead of that before one of her clients fills the US government with co-conspirators

Fun matching game: - Worked at the same tech company as one - Eaten at a restaurant in another country owned by the family of one - Attended conferences with at least three If this comes off as bragging you're missing the point. This is sheer bewilderment at the course of my life. ✨

I resigned from ExxonMobil today. I spent the last three years doing fossil fuel extraction research at both BP and ExxonMobil. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing to maximize extraction while the window to act closes, and gambling with our lives. More below.

After a whirlwind tour of what #AI is doing in health tech, I’m looking for my next role. If you need an empathetic engineering leader with deep experience in #python and broad experience in surprising disciplines, reach out!

Replying to @safety.bsky.app

Lists are the single biggest source of targeted harassment and dogpiling on your platform. It's the only reason the vast majority of those lists exist. And most of them are targeting Black & Jewish folks for doing nothing other than pushing back against the bigotry this platform seems to endorse.

If your entire website is bilingual except the code of conduct, that says something about your community that you probably don't want.

Given the number of changes Leo is making this week, this is starting to feel like that scene in the Godfather where Michael Corleone has coordinated retributive killing blow hits against the other families while he peacefully attends the baptism of his godchild.

SoftBank’s investor presentation is one of the greatest things ever made. I’ve been thinking about it all day. These are the real slides shown in a speech where Masayoshi Son said he wouldn’t retire for at least another decade. The goose stuff is truly demented. Bravo group.softbank/media/Projec...

I built a thing. It's a link feed for the #fediverse and #atmosphere, ranked by interactions with a transparent algorithm you can read. Open source, and I'm looking for beta testers! https://linkgno.me

SCOOP: So remember Dialog, Peter Thiel's private society that doesn't have a public website and no public list of members? I (along with a number of other journalists) have just been tipped off that embedded in the code of their closed off website there IS what seems to be a list of some members.
