Homework. Prep. Flipped learning. Whatever your school calls it. Is it good? Is it bad? Does it enrich learning or widen the attainment gap? Should students receive feedback for every piece of work that they do outside the classroom? Does this vary by type of task? Please let me know 🙂

Fancy a break from the norm? My Y9 starter this week was a Maths Mystery! 🕵️‍♂️ 9 questions, 9 answers, but students must interpret the clues to place them correctly. Subscribers can now save and retrieve puzzles from the new library! mathswhiteboard.com/MWB/mathsmys... #maths #iteachmaths

If anyone wants to come work in my dept then shout up. Would consider P/T for right candidate. Great team. Kids love coming to maths because of the team we have. The big things are in place we’re now in a position to be building consistency across the dept by utilising faculty time for talking

#todayinmaths hit me up and recommend some inspirational women that do talks encouraging more women into STEM careers … particularly to continue with A level maths! #maths

Network, I really need your help with some trainee student placements. I'm supporting 5 secondary trainees, in North West London, who need schools for the year! 1 x Chemistry 1 x Maths 1 x Biology 1 x Art 1 x Business Can anyone in my network help? If you know anyone in that area, please tag!

I marked year 13 homework today. It’s open-book and they’re encouraged to seek help to do the best they can. I’ve just marked 20 pieces of work done mostly by AI. Other than throwing it at them tomorrow, suggestions on what I can do? (They’ve had the “you’re only cheating yourselves” talk already!)

If you have centralised resources that must be adhered to w/out deviation, are there opportunities for staff to craft learning in your school? or is this a skill you have to learn when you get a TLR? Or is this overlooked?

Such a huge timesaver for me! ♥️

If you’re new to teaching and just discovered Maths White Board for the first time… I’m sorry. 😂 You’re about to lose several evenings this week discovering what the site can do, and building ridiculously cool things for your students. Welcome to the rabbit hole. 🐇 mathswhiteboard.com #maths

Anyone around north London can teach A level maths for a few days at an outstanding sixth form college in Harrow on the Hill? Their results were fab, and they are massively over subscribed and maths numbers are bouncing ... I taught there three years myself, brilliant place to teach. #ALevelMaths

I don't know if anyone's teaching L2 FM this year, but Vietnamese University Entrance Exam has a good collection of questions combining coordinate geometry AND Euclidian geometry - you'll need to do geometric proofs before plugging in coordinates! #ALevelMaths #L2FurtherMaths

when am I going to use angle rules in real life? appreciate that the answer might be "you wont but they are a great sandpit for geometrical reasoning" and that is fine of course #maths #mathsteaching #iteachmaths #mtbos etc.

Really enjoying creating some new lessons for KS5 in #Mathstoday. Here are a couple of the slides from Y2 Trig Modelling. Interested to see what people think! #ALevelMaths

Do A level Maths students still need a physical folder with work done on A4 lined paper? Is this a thing OFSTED care about? How do you get your students to do work - are Ipads okay? Thank you - would love to know what other people do 😊 #Alevelmaths #MathsToday

I know it's the holidays, but I any suggestions for a new KS4 resource? Currently use Pearson Active Learn, but we all end up finding alternative questions, as insufficient skills building questions. We liked the style of good old-fashioned Rayner books from the 1990s. Any recommendations? 🙏

Hope you’re all surviving ☀️ I have one lesson left at the end of term with year 12 and I’d love a hands-off revision lesson to cover year 12 content (thinking calculated colouring, murder mystery etc). Anyone got/know of anything like this before I get creative? Thank you 🥰 #alevelmaths #mathstoday

Evening all! I’m looking for the ‘leadership tree’ image with the 15 or so little characters representing different people in a team, including different types of leaders. I’ve spent too long searching on Google, so really someone here knows what I mean and has a copy! Please and thank you 🥰

We’re looking to update our whole-school CPD library. Any recommendations? Maths, other subjects or whole school topics! We have several copies of Rosenshine’s Principles in Action and When the Adults Change, but everything else is ancient (VAK 🤣)! Thank you 🥰

I've added a new section to the site today - A-level Revision. Over the next few months I hope to add to the revision resources, starting with four A-level grids - algebraic methods, quadratics, exponentials and logs, and circle geometry. www.draustinmaths.com/revision #ALevelMaths #MathsToday
