There are only two explanations for the NYT's habit of presenting GOP operatives and donors as true swing voters: 1. Their reporters and editors are somehow incapable of running a simple Google searches, showing just a staggering level of journalistic incompetence 2. They want to the GOP to win

This drives me CRAZY. I grew up playing sports w/ boys. I played on a U12 boys select soccer team, b4 switching to a U12 girls team that kept beating us. Nobody had any issue with any of it. Youth sports have never had the strict sex/gender boundaries that “XX-XY” activists are now trying to defend.

Andrew D Thaler@drandrewthaler.bsky.social

I live in a rural town and, like, I don't know how to tell you this, but the girls play on the boys team and vice versa all the time because otherwise we don't have enough players for a game and it's literally always fine so stop being weirdos about kids sports and just let trans kids play.

A reminder that Bolsonaro’s father plotted to stay in power by poisoning Lula, assassinating the Vice President, and murdering a Supreme Court justice after losing his reelection bid. He is currently serving a 27 year prison sentence for his crimes. Any wonder why Trump is helping his son?

This is legitimately so sad. If you can’t think of three things that make your kid special you’re definitely not spending enough time with them

Elections with two candidates and one of them is a fascist should not be so fucking close! We have a lot of work to do to alter the conditions driving this. Can't see how we get out of this hole without a massive assault on wealth inequality and a ban on big money in politics.

I might cut this at him stunned, lying, and then stammering. Then run it in an ad targeted at MAGA. Why won't Florida Mike stand with President Trump? Rogers lost in 2024 because he lost far more of the Trump vote than John James did in 2020.

Supporters of Washington's I-638 tell voters it will "protect fairness in girls' sports." What it actually does is put a costly, invasive medical check in front of every family whose daughter wants to play on a girls' school team. Boys' teams have no such requirement.

US garment workers helped pioneer multi-ethnic labor unions, which united people across racial, religious, gender, linguistic, and cultural divides. Also native-born citizens and immigrants. I think about that sometimes when I see people suggest such divides are unbridgeable.

Subverting democracy isn't new to John Roberts, Brett Kavanaugh, or Amy Coney Barrett. All three were on George W. Bush's "Florida Recount Team," which lay the groundwork for stopping vote counting in Florida—and Bush v. Gore, the politically-motivated SCOTUS decision that gave Bush the election.

If we "know" there are crimes being committed in RVs, prosecute the crimes. Don't criminalize survival. Crimes happen in single family homes and apartments, too. Should we outlaw those? The right wing of the Seattle City Council has lost their damn minds.

Dan Strauss, the forever-waffling Seattle City Council member, is desperately trying to revive his sagging political career by attacking people who are trying to survive by living in RVs. His bill provides no solutions. It's pure demagoguery.

Part of the answer to "how did we get here?" is that many major journalists—since 1998, Crawford has covered SCOTUS for PBS, ABC, and CBS—are lying bigots. Here Crawford is praising a guy who asked a dumb racist question, glitched out when asked why, then admitted he wanted a Christian theocracy.
