Bluesky's favorite opera composer [citation needed]. Not tonal, not atonal, but a secret third thing. Posts about music, D&D, and loads of other nonsense. Adequate approximation of a teacher, if you squint | she/her | midwesterner in πŸŒ‰

10 years ago I drew this in the back of composition seminar. It went weirdly extremely viral and is probably the start of my Chronically Online Composer Presence. Somebody at Finale turned it into a font (I was not compensated). Don't know where I expected to be in 10 years but it sure wasn't here

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

Funding a new chamber ensemble with some kind of hyperspecific instrumentation, commissioning works so there's a built repertoire for it, then slowly and even more secretly funding others until they start popping up organically and eventually bassists have a STANDARD CHAMBER ENSEMBLE, GODDAMMIT

Wow -- Hannity is moving in for the kill: "Why not just say 'I went to Pepperdine Law School and then took a different career path'? Why get into this long drawn-out thing about the difference between a lawyer and an attorney?"

For refusing his hand in marriage the cruel wizard turned my beloved sister into a clockwork bird. I hid her in a curio shop until I could learn how to break the curse. But what is this? A famous troubadour has entered the store...

Three years and many life battle scars later my darling friends and I in Exuvia have an EP out on the internet, and tapes available from the best lil record label around. Thanks to everyone who's been a part of this thing with us πŸ–€ exuviametal.bandcamp.com/album/trans-...

exuviametal.bandcamp.comTrans Vengeance Metal, by Exuvia6 track album

Today, Oakland's Exuvia release their debut album Trans Vengeance Metal. A vessel for processing collective trauma, expressing rage, & reclaiming autonomy, the album is serpentine journey of despair & resilience through blackened death metal & progressive crust.

On one hand, it reads SO naΓ―ve in a world where the cutting edge of computer science is one of the main destructive forces on the environment. The machines we have are NOT machines of loving grace, although they're being sold as such. We thinking artists DON'T want AI or its masters watching over us

On the other hand, imagine being ABLE to imagine it. Imagine taking off the goggles (or the AI glasses) of the modern world and envisioning technology melting into the background, while leaving nature intact and our souls free. Silicon Valley would never allow it. But it's magical, isn't it?
