Would fellow game-devs be interested in something like this as a library/plugin? Speech to text, simple parser, and an inference knowledge base to fetch a relevant pre-written response template with names/locations filled in. No change to writer/VA work, easy integration to #godot #unity #unreal?
Don't even need pre-written. What you need is a restricted grammar and vocab, like in the old text adventures. That's enough for you to have convos with NPCs. "Where can I find <name/place>?" does not need an LLM to parse. And replies can be mad-libs. There are now ways to not make it sound robitic.
And to clarify the intent behind the inference, the idea is that you'd set this up exactly like a normal dialog system. Player option, "Where can I find the local smith?" points to a template (or just text) about the smith. Player can then ask, "Where can I buy armor?" "Do you know <Name>?" instead.
This can still lead to wild misunderstandings, but you're guaranteed that the response delivered will be something written by your writer, and not fabricated by a data center owned by a corporation. At worst, you give the wrong reply line, player goes, "That's not what I asked," and asks differently

As I mention in follow-up, it'd absolutely be set up as optional, with typed or select from list still available. Zero LLM, no generative AI of any kind. Voice recognition would likely involve a lightweight local NN, and look-up would involve inference, which is based on information provided by devs

Extrapolating some Roadster numbers. 20kN cold gas thrusters at 5,500psi. I'm getting ~40s Isp. 4 thrusters for 0 to 60 in 1s, so about 2g average, call it 4 tons. Works out to about 100kg of compressed air for 1s. Sounds about right. "Flying" version has a second tank, 200kg. That's 4s of air time.

There are still a few places where I messed up the normals, so I need to fix that. That's the cause of inconsistent shading pretty much anywhere you see it. Performance also gets a little rough with the field of stools and pots, but this is completely unoptimized. It's a 100x100 grid, so 10k objects

Wonder if I can help with that...? Folks, how many more wishlists can we get for Puppy Truck do you think? I think this'll be right up the alleys of quite a few of you. ;)
Hoping we have enough wishlists to get decent placement in next fest if that's even a thing
I was so in "follow up" train of thought that I didn't really post any context, despite it being a follow-up to a months-old post. This is in Godot. There are 12 triangles on the screen - it's rendered as a single cube. Goal is a crafting block game that lets you get extra creative #Godot #gamedev
I'm still polishing some of the mechanics for the actual crafting demo, but this is sort of a tech demonstration of what the system's capable of. This is still a single block. It is assembled from 4 chiseled pieces with pixel-perfect curves.

You should be asking why Rockstar gets to do this and doesn't run into any issues with payment processors, while the rest of anyone drawing or writing "explicit content" on any platform have so much trouble getting paid
GTA 6 has received a rating of PEGI 18, revealing mentions of "decapitation," the ability for players to snort cocaine at any time, "scenes of sexual fetishes," and much more.

So, should you buy Magica Riot? Yes: store.magicariot.com "It's so refreshing to just sit down and love something that's maybe "a little" niche but absolutely adores its premise and wants to show you exactly what it loves about itself" Thank you @magicariot.com for writing the book <3 #BookSky
Another long overdue review coming... Soon (tm) In the mean time, I archived my first time reactions because... I'm weird like that. And also I think people would get a kick out of them over my hyper unprofessional book reviews :p Anyway, go buy the book!

I frequently see "AI" boosters implying that LLMs are simply an innate and superior part of coding now, inescapable, and that literally all programmers agree with them. And, well. That, too, is a form of propaganda
I wrote a little piece about the ongoing battle for the soul of software as a craft, where we've been, and where I hope we're going
