Experts said it was a taste of what the state’s residents should expect throughout the winter as the Pacific Ocean swells from this year’s El Niño.
"We're living in a world of major system collapse, and policymakers are forcing technology into our homes (and data centres into our neighbourhoods) that will undermine the very things that bring meaning to our lives, and that would otherwise help us to cope with a collapsing world." For every 1°C of warming, the atmosphere holds 7% more water. 9°F is 5°C. If the air coming off the ocean equilibrates with the warmer surface water, that's 35% more water vapor. Atmospheric Rivers are rightfully called Fire Hoses of precipitation. But now increase the cross section of the hose 😱
Surface temperature anomalies are even more anomalous. The sea surface temperature of 66.6°F is nearly 9 degrees above normal. Plots from the California Ocean Observing Systems: enso.caloos.org
