What's striking to me are the rules of engagement and the methodology of action here, which more or less is predicated on burying liberal delusions about "debate" or the "marketplace of ideas". The rules were ultimately very simple: amplify your own message and suppress your opponent's.

I don't know that there is a template or a "secret sauce" or a clear-cut lesson to take from this. But if there is one it's the idea of treating social media as the hostile territory that it is, of actually acting like you are a participant in propaganda warfare and not like a consumer.

It’s really hard to ignore the steady erosion of Zionism among mid-career and senior scholars of Holocaust studies and Israeli/ME politics. Bartov’s famous break with Zionism was a shock to the NYT, but equally shocking is Dov Waxman’s turn from Zionism and his generous review of Bartov’s book.

After presenting the assertions in the report as fact, the article conveys the Philly Superintendent’s response as mere belief: “Watlington, a former history teacher himself, said he believed the social studies curriculum does not indoctrinate Philadelphia students.” Absolutely shameful framing.

For example, LITERALlY the first sentence asserts the partisan attack credulously, burying the qualifier in a subordinate clause at the end: “Some Philadelphia School District employees promote antisemitism, and the school system indoctrinates students with radical ideas as young as second grade”

Dumping the qualifier at the end aligns the reporting with the conclusions of the “report”. Does the Inquirer want its readers to believe that 2nd grade in Philly is activism training???? What if the last few words add “second grade, a Republican-led congressional committee concluded in a report”

I have refused to use the term “Somali gangs” despite tremendous pressure. Why? It’s a political narrative, not an accurate descriptor of gun violence, even if it was committed by a Somali youth. Who is driving this narrative? Republicans, the Strib, and police. Brilliant reporting below.

DEEP DIVE is up! How the Star Tribune turned Republican “Somali gangs” rhetoric into an election-year crime narrative—and helped give demands for expanded local, state, and federal enforcement the authority of news.

Today we launch the first episode of my podcast. I interviewed Whitney Mitchell, whose fiancé and caretaker Garrett Foster was murdered at a BLM protest in 2020. Foster's killer was convicted by a jury and given a 25-year sentence. Then Texas Gov. Greg Abbott pardoned him.

I have a PhD in microbiology and teach it at the college-level. In the classroom, I teach about the scientific method and how important it is to follow the evidence. In Congress, I’ll fight to protect scientific research, defend public health, and make sure facts—not politics—guide our decisions.

Part of the answer to "how did we get here?" is that many major journalists—since 1998, Crawford has covered SCOTUS for PBS, ABC, and CBS—are lying bigots. Here Crawford is praising a guy who asked a dumb racist question, glitched out when asked why, then admitted he wanted a Christian theocracy.

I just want to say if a character on West Wing gave this verbatim speech it would be an Emmy winning moment fans would love forever. I need normie blue dog libs to understand this is actually, right here, the kind of progressive person that should be in government. This is exactly who you want.

Fortunately we trained a small but mighty set of thinkers in porn studies. Should they survive to do it, they’ll know exactly what this all was.

Today I want to talk about my favorite dummymanders. In a dummymander, the geniuses behind the map have cut margins too close, and create vulnerabilities for themselves. tl;dr: pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. Here are four states that took it too far - and where you can make a difference.

For my ENG speaking followers Unprecedented High School blockades began in the outskirts of Paris in Créteil on the 21st of Sept. National mobilisations followed on the 29th of September, the 1st and the 6th of October. The movement is ongoing and has spread both in scope and scale. #tippingpoint
