tbh i think im gonna stop engaging with any and all critical videos on media made by queer creators unless its a youtuber i really trust. even when the criticism is fully valid its just too annoyingly common seeing every big release from a trans creator become these hateful cottage industries

and if you see critical videos of a trans person/their work are popping off and you decide you better cover it too for the seo: youre a loser. youre a vulture. youre a nasty little parasite with no convictions or identity outside the things other people tell you to believe.

like. it always happens. literally always. people are also so weirdly overly critical of everything trans people say and do. all my trans content creator friends are constantly dealing with this, from views in the millions to streams with less than 100 viewers, it happens to all of them

This is why I hate the “it has to be subtle!!!” Critique of queer media. The fact that we can’t just say what we are or what the character is is so reductive and constraining to so many queer writers. Don’t let cis people dictate how you show you identity. They don’t know what they’re saying.

When trans creators are subtle, people dismiss the trans subtext as “headcanon.” When trans creators are loud and proud, people call it “obnoxious” and “cringe.” They just don’t want us to be represented in media at all. Because they don’t want us to exist at all.
