From the DM’s… There’s reportedly been a massive cull of senior leadership at Acute Care Alberta with 8 senior leaders being shown the door suddenly! Just in time for flu season! #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli

Very keen to hear Mickey Amery explain how the hiring of his cousin Sam Mraiche's nephews would square with this DEI policy, and for Danielle Smith to explain what experience Michaela Frey, who stepped aside to give her a seat in Brooks, had to be hired in the premier's office as a policy advisor.

Alberta’s Minister of Health/Hospitals wants Albertans to know that the government is building everything they can to manage the incoming flu season… Except mention vaccines. In fact, the last time she tweeted about vaccines? Last year. But it was measles, not the flu.

Hey Alberta: is this incompetence or a full on intentional lie? 9003 Acute Care Spaces is NOWHERE near a record number for our prov In the late 1980s we had 17,790 acute care spaces in hospitals (~12,000 acute care beds, +LTC beds) 1988: 7.4 beds/1000 2026: 1.5 beds/1000 1/2

Is no one going to ask *how* she plans on enforcing this? The party bylaws don't give her authority. This isn't the APP. Bylaws do matter.

Danielle Smith confirmed yesterday that no one who espouses Separatist goals will be allowed in a leadership or representative position within the UCP. Looks like Dani has figured out what her biggest weakness is heading into 2027... #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli

Gotta love this. Barrack Obama on Trump's constant attacks on Canada. Thank you sir. #ableg #abpoli #cdnpoli

Obama: "Canada, that historical adversary of ours. It's your neighbour, a few minutes drive over the bridge. They are the nicest people. And somehow we've gotten them so mad because they're just constantly being abused and talked about. Talking about annexing their country, making it a 51st state."

Buckle up, friends. This is going to be a thread. A thread of thanksgiving, my gratitude for the people of the city and the province I love. The people who stood united to defeat a dark and narrow vision of Alberta's future. The people who stood in defence of Canada. 🧵 #Alberta #Canada #yeg

Danielle Smith says that schools like the one in her constituency that flies multiple international flags inside the school will be able to get an exemption. Want to guess what’s not in the new regulations? An exemption process. Or even the word “exemption”.

Greg MacEachern points out that while Danielle Smith champions direct democracy, her government is ignoring the results of an earlier referendum on daylight saving time.

Treaty 6 was signed in 1876. Treaty 7 was signed in 1877. Treaty 8 was signed in 1899. Alberta joined confederation in 1905. This was treaty land before Alberta existed. This is still treaty land.

Alberta is restricting when the Treaty 6 and Métis Nation flags are flown at schools to the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Pride flags will NEVER be allowed to fly. But you can fly the Vatican City flag. www.ctvnews.ca/edmonton/art...

It would be grand, then, if the Government of Canada would terminate any use of X/Twitter. And don't say, "Oh, we need it to get our messages out," because then you are "caught in a situation where we are reliant on one provider."

Mark Carney on what Elon Musk's throttling of Starlink means for Canada: "We do not want to be caught in a situation where we are reliant on one provider that puts Canadians at risk or compromises our sovereignty, our ability to express our values and live our values."

Alberta Prosperity Project disavows their separatist leaders after they lost the referendum. Up until then, they were fine. Danielle Smith disavows separatists in the UCP party and caucus after they lost the referendum. Up until then, they were fine. No honor among thieves.

The ridiculous cost of this referendum, the divisiveness & polarization it caused, the damage it did to Alberta’s already troubled national image - none of this had to happen. Danielle Smith made sure it did. She should be held accountable, at the polls. 2/2 #ableg

Something for the #ableg folk to think about, at length: The Separatists didn’t even achieve 600k votes in this referendum. The threshold for their petition was originally 600k until Danielle Smith changed it to 177k. Had she not done so, there would’ve never been a referendum. 1/2

Premier Smith is simply not TRUSTWORTHY, and Albertans know it. She's keeps deflecting and misleading on the separation issue... And she's not trustworthy on healthcare! She's made promises she hasn't kept, and she keeps spouting random numbers pretending they are facts!

Edmonton city council may have just set a record for short meetings. They were set to discuss the UCP's edict on zoning, but since the gov't has yet to provide specific details for council to follow, there was nothing to discuss. As soon as roll call was over, that was it. #yeg #yegcc

Here is Alberta's Premier, lying again, deflecting, and refusing to accept responsibility for putting the Canada question on the ballot. It's always 'other people' when things don't go her way. Nothing new, but she is not fit to hold public office. #ableg #abpoli

Danielle Smith throws Forever Canada under the bus, blaming them for the referendum: "If somebody doesn't want to put a vote forward, then they shouldn't start a petition campaign. If they're going to do that, then they have to understand that there are consequences to it."

Noticed my book at the front table in Edmonton Airport Indigo. Excellent. Also noted: the airport is very efficiently run by a workforce almost entirely people of colour. Ironic, since a majority of Albertans just voted to reduce immigration. Claiming it’s a drag on the economy. Sad.

The referendum drama in Alberta is over. Up next: the highly contentious redrawing of electoral boundaries! The advisory panel that was appointed in June is due to give its report to the UCP-controlled Select Special Committee *tomorrow* (Oct. 22). Some thoughts on this from a poll we did in May:

robsonfletcher.comAlbertans are paying attention to electoral boundary changes and uncomfortable with what they see · Robson FletcherTwo-thirds of Albertans say they're aware of the province's unusual electoral boundary process — and most want it out of politicians' hands.

Albertans should be furious about this. Danielle Smith: 1) Lowered the threshold for signatures on a petition 2) Extended the duration in which they could be collected 3) Continues to pretend the people who signed the Forever Canada petition wanted a referendum Shameless.

Yes, defeating the separatists is a win. But a majority of Albertans just voted to restrict access to healthcare & education for our immigrant neighbours, which will have real consequences for vulnerable communities across the province. Scapegoating, racism & bigotry is the real winner here. #ABLeg

Relieved that the majority of my fellow Albertans voted to stay in Canada. Demoralized that a majority also voted that the child of a temporary foreign worker or refugee shouldn't have access to health care or education. Yesterday doesn't really feel like a win. #canada #ABleg
