rough first week for humans at the intergalactic council. everyone was really nice but we spent a lot of time at orientation trying to figure out what made us unique among all the galaxy's species. turns out we're the only ones who thought to deep fry cheese. that's it. we're the fried cheese planet

I just realized that 99 percent of pseudoarchaeology/ancient alien conspiracies can be easily debunked by introducing the stunning concept of "wooden rollers that reduce friction when you're dragging heavy things."

I wrote and posted this to Instagram a couple of days ago and it became my most-read poem ever. I’m honored I get to feel big feelings alongside you all. I’m posting it here too and want to use this space more consistently. Hello friends ❤️

I have been working on this update since December. It represents a complete overhaul of the app. A new and more efficient search algorithm, better playback, and more. You can also sync the app with music in your iCloud library to take your digital music files with you wherever you go.

I'm always struck by the refusal of otherwise literate adults to distinguish between annoying and dangerous when it comes to bikes. Water is wet and cyclists are less dangerous than cars for pedestrians! Not debatable!

LLMs do not understand, will not understand, and cannot ever understand information. It's a glorified search engine combined with auto-compete, and you should treat it as such. No matter how much LLM companies try to tell you their machines can think or reason, they cannot and will not. 12/12

This is the kind of shit that would make you completely outside the bounds of any ancient society, the gods bestow generational curses for violating hospitality

A few days ago, Fox News was whining about ICE agents getting heckled at a Mexican restaurant in Minneapolis. Meanwhile, in the town of Willmar, ICE agents had lunch at a Mexican restaurant, waited until it closed, then confronted and arrested three workers as they left.

composer-1 is an astonishingly fast and useful coding model. I won’t be getting rid of my claude code max subscription any time soon, but wow has this sped up my cursor workflow

Last night I wondered how difficult it would be to build a simple remote interface for the outlets in my apartment. The answer: not difficult at all. I need to do some code optimization for the requests to the outlets, but an ESP32 made this a breeze. #Arduino #SmartHome #DIYElectronics

I ordered a few #PCBs to clean up the design. Thankfully the switch wiring was right on the first try. Working through firmware revisions and a simple desktop configuration interface written in #Electron. #DIYElectronics

I didn’t realize that the “hi hungry, I’m dad” dad joke has a deeper meaning, which is “please politely ask me for what you actually want instead of just announcing a problem to me.” “Dad, I’m hungry.” “Hi hungry, I’m Dad.” “🙄 Could you please make me something to eat?” “And how hard was that??”

PROGRAMMER: I've saved so much time! NARRATOR: They did not save any time whatsoever. In fact, they spent as much time as they claimed to have saved. Again. bsky.app/profile/metr...

We ran a randomized controlled trial to see how much AI coding tools speed up experienced open-source developers. The results surprised us: Developers thought they were 20% faster with AI tools, but they were actually 19% slower when they had access to AI than when they didn't.

This update contains some of my favorite features that I’ve shipped to date. The #AI built into the app continues to become more powerful and I can’t wait to share the next few features coming down the pipeline.
