Law; Politics; Film; F1; Liberal, Social Democrat; Feminist; Cosy, Cosy Crime. I block irrationally and far too quickly. Believe me - it’s not you, it’s me. (Well… it’s very occasionally you, but you shouldn’t have been awful.)

I did a somewhat deep dive into the recent OpenAI and Anthropic "hacks" for an upcoming interview. IMO, the AI companies are better off running with the "rogue AI" story because the real story is actually pretty embarrassing. Like making your Wi-Fi password "wifi" embarrassing. 🧵

I’m not saying anything new here, but for Farage not to turn up for the results in Clacton, for a by-election that he caused, when people have been up all night counting votes, overseeing it etc… it’s shameful!

No there will not be an early election. A man with 400 seats will not risk half of them three years early to satisfy columnists’ belief in mandate fairies.

Utterly in my head over the Starmer drama. Am I disappointed in him as a leader. Yes. Do I think the floated alternatives will be better? No. Do I want change? Yes. Do I think it unwise to change leadership now? Also, yes. Round and round in my head it goes.

Let's imagine what this tweet would have looked like if a left-winger had said Jews praying in public was "an act of domination".

New nonsensical both sides position just dropped.

How Kemi Badenoch's spokesman responded when I asked if she agrees with her Shadow Lord Chancellor that Muslims praying in Trafalgar Square is an "act of domination"

I’m sure that the Taoiseach will be quite relieved to hear that Keir is not Winston Churchill.

Trump on Starmer: "I like him. I think he's a nice man. But I'm disappointed." Repeats that "Keir is not Winston Churchill."

School children to do mandatory (“voluntary”) shifts in care homes to solve the care crisis, reduce the need to import “low-skilled forriners”, and give the feckless youth of today a sense of purpose and duty “like we had in our day”.

1. Interesting to see Reform abandon its flirtation with nativism / birth rate boosterism in favour of the policy of the last Tory government 2. “Starve a kid for a cheaper pint” is quite the policy. Be interested to see how that performed in focus groups (especially all male versus mixed).

Alex from our time working together, while he was in nursing school. Later, he moved to ICU, working as a nurse to support critically ill Veterans. He had such a great attitude. We’d chat between patients about trying to get in a mountain bike ride together. Will never happen now

If, like me, you need a break from the exhausting task of spreading Christmas cheer to all, be sure to call someone a bony-eared assfish, 'distinguished, by some sources, as having the smallest brain-to-body weight ratio of any vertebrate.' #merrychristmas #assfish

A third of 16-18 year olds girls say in surveys that they experienced unwanted sexual touching at school. There are several hundred rapes reported in schools every year.

Zoë Grünewald@zoegrunewald.bsky.social

Dog-whistle and factually incorrect. Ladies, raise your hand if you were sexually assaulted by a boy at school? I’d wager this or a family member is most women’s first experience of sexual violence

“No less an authority than the United Kingdom’s former Prime Minister, Liz Truss” That’s a real sentence that someone wrote, which made it into Trump’s legal filing.

Retrospectively removing indefinite leave to remain would be immoral and economically damaging. It would tear families apart. Attacking it as ‘potentially illegal’ is completely beside the point. Argue with the (awful) idea. Don’t try ’well, actually you can’t do that’.

Rapidly coming to the conclusion that everyone needs to spend a lot less time on the internet – EXCEPT journalists and cops, who evidently need to spend far more time online.

Bit of a paradox that it takes a US Democrat to challenge Farage, whereas UK Labour does a decaf tribute act for him

Adam Schwarz@adamjschwarz.bsky.social

Democrat @raskin.house.gov excoriates Nigel Farage for banning journalists from Reform UK events: "I'm asking you a direct question. Why do you ban journalists who oppose your views from coming to your events? Why did you tell local government not to do interviews with your local newspaper?"
