Communication. If people moved away last century, you lost touch easily. Long distance calls were expensive and rare. My best friend and I have lived in different cities for over 15 years. We text, chat and play games every week. Don't know how I'd be w/o connections like that.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

AI firms want you to believe their fraud bot is alive so they won’t be held responsible for the fraud bot’s crimes. But there is no gray area here, they hold the on/off switches in their very human, very prosecutable hands.

Yes, defeating the separatists is a win. But a majority of Albertans just voted to restrict access to healthcare & education for our immigrant neighbours, which will have real consequences for vulnerable communities across the province. Scapegoating, racism & bigotry is the real winner here. #ABLeg

Knights of the Old Republic and the Mass Effect trilogy remain among the best games I've ever played and *remain* replayable to this day. Which I guess we'll all have to do since nothing new will be made by the end of the decade.

In Toronto, more people are killed and injured by vehicles than from violent crimes. Anyone who claims to be a champion of safety, but who isn't advocating for safer roads, is just fear mongering or dog whistling.

The real outcome of the Alberta referendum is "we'll stay in Canada but we FUCKING HATE IMMIGRANTS and we have a mandate to make their lives miserable, try to stop us and we'll have another hissy fit." I can't celebrate that.

This story by Jacques Gallant contains, without exaggeration, the single most crushing thing I've read about Canadian justice. In 2004, an 18-year-old got a de facto sentence of Life 25 for non-violent trespassing — and we've kept him in solitary. Genuine tears in my eyes thinking about his life.

Imagine donning a suit, and then thinking a cowboy hat completes the outfit. Cowboy cosplay alive and well in Alberta.

Preach more of this. Whoever the NDP advisors across this country are, they are losers and goofs. How can they make no inroads on Ford? Who told Eby this was a good idea? who thought Nenshi was an NDPer? How can they be irrelevant in the poorest jurisdiction, the Maritimes?

Something I mind amusing, and even more ironic, is how much safety wear the guys removing the bike lanes need to be in proximity to traffic. High viz, steel toes, hard hats, training, police traffic control creating buffer space for them, while removing the same hard won buffer for so many more.

Cyclists are lecturered they need to hold the hand of drivers to get them inside. That’s been tried for years. In response is removal + these smug “silent majority smiling” opinions. So it’s on to other tactics. Like taking the entire lane. Group rides. Endless protest & fighting. “War”

The officiating has been full-on game management, but the Habs bungled their special teams tonight. their PPG nullified by alllowing a SHG and they failed to score on the 5-on-3, again. Could easily have held a cozy lead at this point of the game.
