Toronto, ON gets about 335 rideable days a year by my rules: 246 green and 89 yellow. I set green above 0°C and red below −10°C. Find your number with Bike-Rideable Days by Shifter. #BikeTO

"I'm not informed about the issues." Talk to people you trust. “The polls say...” Polls don't matter. "The candidates are all the same." No, they're not. “It doesn’t matter who wins." It matters very much to someone you care about. Polls are open until 8 pm. Please vote wisely, Toronto. #TOPoli

Well the day of Christie Cross is here! This is the Tour de Force of Toronto's urban cycledom. No race is more prestigious than the city bike share race, it is the ultimate Alpe d'Huez of urban mobility. These brave commuters are not only testing their brawn but future Bloor lane detours #bikeTO

I don’t doubt that the western section of Bloor Street sees fewer cyclists than the rest. That’s totally expected for a relatively new bike lane on the edge of the network without a lot of connections or bike share stations yet!

Matt Elliott@graphicmatt.com

Bradford says the Bloor West data suggest the city "allocated 50% of the road space for half a percentage of road users. And that doesn't work." (By this logic, there are several streets downtown where pedestrians should get MUCH wider sidewalks)

Since 2016, London’s cycling network has grown fivefold, from 90 to 450 kilometres. The results? 1.5 million daily cycle journeys—a 43% increase since 2019—twice as many bikes as cars on City of London streets during the day, and motor traffic in steady decline—having fallen 25% in the same period.

With our bike lanes under attack it's important to celebrate our love of bikes this Sunday at the famous Christie Cross Race @ Christie Pits! Right along the Bloor bike lane this race is fun for all to watch & ride. From elite racers to commuters showing their Bike Share skills www.christiecross.ca

This is one of the many reasons I wear a helmet camera when I bike. Drivers in Toronto are out of control and emboldened by a provincial government that is actively dismantling safety and enforcement, and prioritizing drivers above all else. I'm glad they caught the guy.

As long as we keep treating automobile violence as an inevitable cost of doing business rather than a failure of public safety regulation, this will continue to happen. I really hope for recovery for all the families impacted by this careless and negligent act.

So, they didn't cover the catchbasins or protect from debris going into the ravine below. I've seen photos of bitumin and asphalt in the river below the bridge. These are violations of provincial construction and environmental standards. I also didn't see an MTO inspector in site?

I know no one gives a F about safety or the law when the province is involved - but those workers & police should be wearing PPE for this work. Did they cover the catchbasins? Did they warn residents to close windows? The city would never get away with this. www.gazzolapaving.com/files/employ...

TPS is going to have one hell of a WSIAT file for respiratory issues. At least we slowed them down tonight. It ain’t over till it’s over. And it‘s never over.

Last night people on bikes stood up against the destruction of safe infrastructure. Tonight, we will return to bear witness and protest decisions that put the public at risk. They will try to take out the last intact lane markings tonight 1/2

jnyyz.wordpress.comthe shrine to victims of road violenceSometime between early Sunday evening and Monday morning, a shrine to victims of road violence was erected at Tom Riley Park This parking lot has been the central meeting point for the protests about the removal of the Bloor bike lanes in Etobicoke. The first report of its appearance was this #biketag picture posted by Chris at about 6:30 this morning.

In Toronto, more people are killed and injured by vehicles than from violent crimes. Anyone who claims to be a champion of safety, but who isn't advocating for safer roads, is just fear mongering or dog whistling.

As Canada awaits the Alberta separation referendum results, let’s remember how stupid this all is. Huge public money spent on a Russian & American-fuelled separation movement for an awfully-written and badly managed unbinding referendum on whether to hold a binding referendum that would be illegal.

These 32 #BloodBikes commemorate the 32 people killed on Bloor, Yonge & University in 20-years before bike lanes were built. After bike lanes were installed only one tragic loss of a life has occurred in 6-years since 2020. Bike lanes keep EVERYONE save, not only people cycling. #BikeTO #ONPoli

No, no. We've been assured it's too hilly and too snowy for Toronto to be a great cycling city. So this can't be true for the hillier and snowier Montreal.

It has been brought to our attention that it is entirely possible Doug Ford does not understand that a podcast called "The War on Cars" might be in favor of things like protected bike lanes.
