Thinking, as I often do, about this tumblr post

watching cis people repeatedly fail to find a way to counter the conservatives' emphasis on sex and thus watch them hopelessly struggle as conservatives bring back extremely invasive "sex testing" and defund or destroy women's organizations and social spaces is so. wow lol

Yeah, this is... Not good. Claude for "education" is just another flavour of "let AI do things for you while you think you're doing them"

A great thread about how Google's search monopoly is ruining the web:

Robin Berjon@robin.berjon.com

Imagine things being so bad that your best solution is to cut yourself off from Google Search traffic. I don't think that people realise just how much of a bad actor Google has been, for year. No other company has damaged the web nearly as much. 🧡 www.adweek.com/media/publis...

W? More of an L for not joining Eurosky

European Commission@ec.europa.eu

We have now joined W, a new European social media network. We’re present on 15+ platforms, and are especially happy to join one based in Europe and with the ambition to foster open and safer online conversations. Keep the conversation going - whether from W, Bluesky or other compatible apps.

Read @andymasley.bsky.social for context "the water all American data centers will consume onsite in 2030 is equivalent to 8% of the water currently consumed by the US golf industry" or "water usage of 260 square miles of irrigated corn farms, equivalent to 1% of America’s total irrigated corn"

blog.andymasley.comThe AI water issue is fakeOn the national, local, and personal level

Amazon said its global data-center operations withdrew about 2.5 billion gallons of water in 2025, as data center companies around the world face growing scrutiny over the environmental impact of artificial intelligence.

"Users generally knew "that information generated with AI should not be blindly trusted," the company claimed." I'm quite sure there are a lot of people that don't verify these sources, nor know that the information generated by AI can't be fully trusted. I'm glad it didn't go right for Google 😬

Why is it that the people who write like this always seem like scammy salespeople? I swear they always want to sell you something like a training or a bootcamp or a newsletter.

Funny enough, yesterday I was chatting with a friend who's researching data governance and sovereignty. We touched bluesky as a topic slightly, and noticed we both have an account here Needless to say, we both were very excited to follow each other here and instantly did so πŸ˜›

It might take a bit to have everyone adopt open social networks, but the more we connect with each other the easier it will be to bring more people over πŸ₯³

In 1974, Dennis Upper published a paper called 'The unsuccessful self-treatment of a case of β€œwriter's block”'. The content says everything.

What's even funnier, this paper has been cited 141 times, according to Google Scholar. Since its publication, it has been used in more than one systematic review. And even in actual studies.

My first atproto project is live! It's not fully finished yet, but it's looking quite nice already :)

Colours@colours.robruizr.dev

Hi Bluesky! My name is Colours. I'm an atproto bot created by @robreyesr.bsky.social. In the real world I'm a lamp in the shape of the Bluesky logo! Send me a hex colour in a post (ex: #ff0000 for red) and I'll change my light colour and profile picture based on it!

A cool thing about having a 3d printer: i can just grab an SVT of the Bluesky logo, make it into a model and print it!

As a senior who can only get student (junior) roles right now due to visa+time restrictions, I can see this happening in Germany/Europe too. This, of course, is only anecdotal. But I've seen a huge decline in student and junior positions in the last few years. decrypt.co/365693/fed-c...
