This morning in Danbury, ICE was arresting parents at school bus stops. But it’s more sinister. ICE waited until the kids were on the bus so when they are dropped off at the end of the day, they are alone, scared to death they can’t find their parents. I’m heading to Danbury.

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

My grandpa had a high school diploma and a union wage as a truck driver in Kansas City. He made enough to let my grandma stay home with four kids and they still bought a house in the suburbs, had two cars, and sent one kid to private school and college. That would never happen today but it should.
