a reminder, again, that AltNPS is a grifter account run by people who have no affiliation with the National Park Service and indeed who never did have any affiliation with the National Park Service. They have no sources, they have no information, they are purely there to scam you.
"Receiving reports" my ass. AltNPS is not receiving reports of ICE raids in Saint Paul. They are seeing posts on social media like the rest of us. I DO have loved ones in Saint Paul. ALL of my loved ones. They're terrified. Fuck you.
Great thread. And the moral of this story I think is this keeps happening until we gate social media with the only tool that works: Registration Fees. Pay $20 for an account, get banned for being obnoxious, a ton of this becomes far easier to handle (because reg fees pay for paid moderation)
She gave permission for screenshots for posterity since she's about to deactivate, so I wanted to preserve these in particular. This is why I was going on about this issue so much last night amidst all of the lamentations in the passive voice. A lot of this awfulness is self-inflicted.
This thing isn't alive. It can't say anything. It's literally a fancy prediction engine. It 'apologized' because the math said that was the most likely respond to the prompt asking it to apologize. Stop falling for a Cuckoo mimicking a human. Actually that's an insult to the cuckoo.

Remember: When Tylenol was poisoned *by an outsider* and killed people, the company recalled all their products & redesigned them. When Intel’s Pentium had a bug so obscure it affected 1 in _9 billion_ long division calculations, they recalled their chips. ChatGPT was made deadly *by its team*.
i don’t see how any of the benefits of chatgpt and other consumer-facing LLMs can possibly outweigh their incredible ability to induce suicides

This whole thread right here. When SCOTUS behaves in an unlawful, unconstitutional way, we are not obligated to accept its unlawful, unconstitutional claims as lawful and constitutional. We ignore them, we undermine them, we elect Presidents who refuse to accept them.
I think it is about time that Democrats started familiarizing themselves with Lincoln’s response to Dred Scott instead of accepting the tacit premise that whatever a bare majority of the Supreme Court decides, dictates our constitutional fate

May everyone who voted for this fucking moron be visited by appropriate karma.
Trump: "When you have networks where I won an election in counties -- I guess it's 2,600 to 525, that's called a landslide times two -- when you have that kind of popularity or voter support, and yet 97% of the newscasts are against me ... I think that's really illegal."

The problem is that the cosplay radicals, mean girl aesthetic leftists, and clout-chasing #resistance accounts who dominate Bluesky have had close to zero interaction with real-world politics in their lives
Anyone with literally any background in advocacy and organizing knows this. This is the most basic principle in modern organizing.

Update - I want you all to know, this is a significant sacrifice for my wife, who said, and I am quoting this verbatim, “now I can’t watch my international soccer matches on the shittiest fucking app ever made, that’s the whole reason we had that stupid fucking ESPN bundle”
Just talked with my wife, we are cancelling our Disney+ subscription. If you have one, I encourage you to do the same.

What fills me with incandescent rage is that these guys have never actually successfully won anything with their supposedly pragmatic focus on dull kitchen-table issues. It has no proven successes, and virtually the entire time it’s been an obsession for these guys the party has been in free-fall
This guy needs to be primaried asap because he's clearly completely incompetent.
My ‘Miracle on Ice’ bill just passed out of Congress!🎉🏅🏒 This bill will award the 1980 U.S. Olympic Men's Ice Hockey Team, which beat the Soviet Union at the height of the Cold War, with a Congressional Gold Medal. (1/2)

You're smarter than this. The pie may be bigger but the slices have become so much smaller. If the pie were divided better, people would be less susceptible to fascist BS.
The United States is rapidly going fascist and is the most materially prosperous large nation in human history by a huge margin. If that’s not rich enough to prevent a fascist resurgence, there simply is no amount of wealth that will stave it off and the problem is social and political.
Space Command shouldn't exist. It's a silly branch of the military and I refuse to treat it seriously, because it was created by a silly little man to feed his own ego. We have a space branch of the government. It's called NASA. Who cares that he's moving his vanity project? Just end it.
Trump’s decision to move U.S. Space Command to Alabama is deeply disappointing. It undermines national security, wastes taxpayer dollars, and disrupts military families. Colorado Springs remains the best home for Space Command and the men and women who serve there.

The difference here : The primary is in 2.5 years away. If people insist on nominating Newsom after a major contingent going 'If this happens, no, we won't vote' for literal years? It's on them. The consequences were illuminated in bright red scarlet letters. I refuse to support 1 more useless pol
