submitted ~11 PRs today with another 2 waiting to push gonna make markdown go brrr

15 PRs merged to Satteri! improved definition list and attributes support is coming soon, and so will a whole new suite of extended syntax plugins via mirrordown later this week!

glad to hear that the hill lives on! man, it's been *years* since I saw a show there, but it was one of the first live music venues I ever went to (and the only time I've ever been in a music video!) and I know how much it means to people I've met from all around the world hope to go again someday!

Scoop! Bottom of the Hill will live to see 2027. Interview with all three co-owners plus the club’s incoming proprietor today on @coyotemedia.org 🤘 www.coyotemedia.org/bottom-of-th...

well, it looks like Config is going to be held at... Pier 80 next May? that's.... a choice there are no nearby hotels and no public transit options besides a very slow bus; you would basically have to drive there Config usually sees >8k attendees so, wtf Figma

on the one hand, I'd already be going down to the bay area for Fanime the weekend afterwards, but I just don't see myself *driving* all the way from the east bay to attend for those 3 days, the commute would be insane guess I won't be going next year

like this year attending Config I had to take BART each day from Dublin/Pleasanton and that was already ~1hr door to door and I barely made it on time day 1 for the keynote next year if I took BART + MUNI, with all the added walking it'd be about ~2hrs door to door. no thanks!

think I've finally sorted through the whole collection, unless I manage to dig up another box shoved away somewhere in the garage got another 216 cans to wash and prep to capture tonight 😭

after that, I've sorted out nearly another box (108 cans) of sets of 6, where I'm 1 can short of each (easy to fix) got maybe another two boxes of sets of 4 that I don't know if I can find 2 more of each then... 4-ish boxes that are mostly leftovers so... 12-13 boxes in total? ~1400 cans overall

“people don’t want to generate content. people want to find the content that matters to them.” build for the builders, yes, but also build for the lurkers

Brookie@brookie.blog

i designed a concept of pretty much this. i think the better way to do ai features is to help people find what they’re looking for. or help them understand whats happening in the atmosphere. people don’t want to generate content. people want to find the content that matters to them.

Yesterday, the CSSWG accepted my proposal for mesh gradients and diffusion curve gradients! Want to make gradients like this natively in CSS? Well, we've started the work on it. It's coming! Here's the Explainer: github.com/w3c/csswg-dr...

this would be huge! who do I need to pester to bump this up the priority queue?

Paweł Grzybek@pawelgrzybek.com

The CSS Linked Parameters Module is cool. You can essentially pass parameters to SVGs that are embedded on the page using the image source or background image. @pepelsbey.dev has a great post about it! Vadim's post: pepelsbey.dev/articles/svg... Spec: drafts.csswg.org/css-link-par... #svg #css

Astro 7.4 is out now! Ever wondered why your build is slow? Run astro build --timings and Astro breaks down every phase, plugin, and page. Plus separate build and runtime image services and experimental parallel prerendering. astro.build/blog/astro-740/

astro.buildAstro 7.4 | AstroAstro 7.4 adds a --timings flag that shows where your build spends its time, separate build and runtime image services, a notFound() handler for custom entrypoints, and experimental parallel…

working on some updates to mirrordown today that will hopefully result in a satteri plugin vertical, the goal being native integration with Astro 7 and deliver byte-identical output whether you use markdown-it, remark/rehype, or satteri as your markdown engine

~400 beers captured so far, another ~100 prepared to shoot, still not even halfway done

still emotionally devastated but hey, I built this totally bespoke capture app today it drives my Syrp Genie Mini (a discontinued and unsupported product) and my Sony A7C to automate 360-degree captures for my beer can collection and processes them into a single unwrapped texture so that's cool

implemented sticker cropping with rounded corners this morning for cans that have sticker labels, this helps to straighten out incorrectly applied labels by applying a perspective warp to the selection area here's some samples

Today I shipped a huge change to syntax highlighting in Discord: code blocks and file previews on web are now being highlighted by Tree-sitter, instead of highlight.js.

one box of cans captured, nine or ten more to go? 🙃 honestly, I forget how many I have, just that it takes up a significant portion of my garage at this point

capturing new photos has gone back to being the bottleneck, which is actually not that bad. takes maybe 3-4 minutes on average to scan a new beer can. everything else is just enter a few major details like brewery and beer name, fill in some additional brewery info its new to the catalog, etc

tfw you demo an app to someone and their reaction is "that's everything I need it to do!"

a sample of labels from Fast Fashion, a brewery I discovered while living in Japan which is based in Seattle. another favorite of mine, Matt crafts some incredible IPAs this morning I ported the Typescript alignment pipeline to Rust and it was easily a 60x speedup! previews are near instant now

small catalog browser update so I can see at a glance what has been developed already and what hasn't yet UI could use a lot more polish, obviously. it works for me right now and that's the important part because I'm the only user (and probably ever will be)

in about a day's work I've gone from zero to a nearly perfect capture it's beautiful! 🤩

some more sample label unwraps I've got over a dozen more beers from Wayfinder! one of my favorite breweries in PDX lately. they've got some great branding on top of some uniquely tasty brews!

to get better consistency in placement of my cans before I photograph them, I had claude go and design a base plate for my turntable to hold cans in place! now I just need to go and give it a few coats of white paint so that I can more easily remove it from the photos in post-processing

learned torikizoku made it to the US and at first I was excited but then I saw that skewers are all $8 each and now I am sad again

it's still all order-by-tablet and the only staff interactions you have are seating and bussing your table when you leave, but of course there's gratuity anyways cuz fuck you that's why I hate it here

(btw, Kura sushi is the one famous for the plate return slots in the table, so there's even less to buss)

when I was living there in 2025, I could pay the tab for a night out with 7 of my classmates for 2 hours of all we could eat and drink and the bill would be like... $70 total with these US prices, the amount of menu items I'd usually order just for myself would come up to around $70 😭

similarly Kura Sushi is *not worth* here in the US typically Kura, Sushiro, or Hama Sushi (all conveyor belt chains famous for near zero staff interaction) sell plates for like, ¥200 (~$1.50) on average for two pieces of nigiri the one here in Beaverton is around $4.15 per plate 😭

I just want to have access to good, cheap yakitori in the US apparently that is too much to ask for

for reference, all standard menu items at toriki in Japan are presently ¥410 (tax included), which is about $2.70 per menu item (including most alcohol) which even by toriki's Japan standards is an all-time-high in the past couple of years

been using Vite+ for months now and I use it in every project. I wouldn’t even consider a different toolchain at this point, it’s just that good!

and the capture app is built on Tauri, with a React Aria + Dialkit UI, leveraging the Sony SDK to communicate and control my camera somehow Claude figured out how to automatically stitch all the captures together; that one is way outside my wheelhouse

added trim and horizontal offset on the label framing, not bad for a day's work stitching could still be a bit better, there's still ghosting going on, but tomorrow I'll have a better lighting setup so I can maybe get it resolved with more frames splatting and 3D projection are next up

the Genie doesn't have official Windows drivers, btw. Claude reverse-engineered the Android app to build a Bluetooth LE driver for it. it's now a typescript package that can drive the device over the Web Bluetooth API, which is pretty rad tbh

what makes this especially hard is for years I've worked from home and am essentially nocturnal. since I've been mostly unemployed these last 4 years, literally all I do is spend my time locked away in my office working on projects and applying for jobs Ary was my constant companion through it all

yesterday I unexpectedly had to say goodbye to Ary, the sweetest little angel who ever lived he was my best friend for 14 years and helped me through all the hardest times of my life I’ll always love you with all my heart and soul, kitty boy
