It's ridiculous that someone was paid nearly $900k for being fired, but even more outrageous that the Albanese government refuses to say why they abruptly terminated a Secretary when there were hundreds of thousands of unlawful payment cancellations.

We keep telling the government - we don't want automated robo-debt, or data centres everywhere, or aged-care assessment by algorithm, or non-professional NDIS decisions. Employ real people. Pay real wages. Fix hospitals & schools. Tax the squillionaires & giant companies. Can't be any clearer.

Penny Allman-Payne@pennyallmanpayne.com

Older people have been saying this for months. Labor's automation of aged care assessments has been a disaster, under-assessing need and priority, denying care and driving up waitlists. It's past time to bin the whole thing and put humans back in charge of decision-making.

This performative charity PR exercise for a commercial company is really offensive. On seeing Marles all I can think of is the hundreds of millions he’s handed to the US that could helped Australians in need

The Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal is bringing a little bit of joy to Australian families doing it tough. And that’s something our whole Parliament can support.

I love how Govts seem to think that solving poverty is not their job. Every time they pose with a charity or someone giving something away, they are admitting their failure. #auspol #ShameOnYou

This is obscene. It's always the people most marginalised & in need of support who government seeks to claw back budget savings from. How about cut defence spending fewer people need to flee their homes in the first place & provide meaningful support so refugees can feel safe & live a decent life.

Due to changes by the Albanese Government at least 250 refugees seeking asylum that the ASRC helps have just lost their Medicare Card. It will cost us $270,000 for the next year to cover this. You can help by choosing welcome and donating today: donate.asrc.org.au/donatetoday

As someone who covered Robodebt in part, it's clear nothing has really changed. Worse: the politics of federal Labor on social security are baffling. We keep hearing about how people have "lost trust in institutions". Wiping these debts seem a simple answer to help. Instead, they rewrote the rules.

One of the saddest aspects about the global wave of right-wing populism is how many people are still in awe of the billionaires despite their racism, misogyny, hate and bigotry. Peter Boyle argues they are literally destroying our future. www.greenleft.org.au/2026/1465/an...

Fierce community backlash over data centre impacts on energy, water, environment, health, & amenity works‼️ Join the community rally against NextDC's proposed M4 data centre right next to Westgate Park (Melbourne) 31 Oct: 1pm picnic/ BBQ 2pm walk to NextDC M4 site Register if you'd like lunch👇👇

A pretty big win for anti-data centre activists in Melbourne: protests over huge new power lines for Nextdc’s M3 project forced Jemena to pause works in Sept. Nextdc says that delayed power to the site. Today it cut FY27 earnings guidance by about a third and halted new projects and land buys.

Rather than recalculate these, Labor passed new legislation to retrospectively validate debts they had already conceded were illegal. Now people are having to go back decades to find evidence with which to defend themselves. This is beyond indefensible. Spitting in the faces of Robodebt victims.

🚨 If you have received a message like this today please understand your mutual obligations HAVE NOT CHANGED. The government is trying (poorly) to inform you that they have resumed payment cancellations for certain mutual obligations breaches. I have attached the information you actually need:

So many have come out to protest in Paris for an end to endless austerity to make the billionaires trillionaires and everyone else homeless.

Crisafulli hope's he's shed the 'new' government tag. Is he for real?? The avalanche of govt advertising continues to trumpet the 'new' LNP govt wherever you turn, to the extent it's become a running joke. Can't wait until they're the 'previous' govt. #LNPLiarsCrooksThieves
