NWS San Diego has issued new Coastal Flood Warning for near-record/record-breaking tides and possible widespread coastal inundation in SoCal Sun-Thu. And there's no king tides or major storms in the mix yet...just elevated sea levels from extreme El Nino plus long-term warming.

Check out our new paper in JCB today all about septins!

In @jcb.org, @maggieutgaard.bsky.social, @myosincity.bsky.social, @pwoakes.bsky.social et al. show that #septins accumulate at the cortex in response to mechanical cues, where they serve to buffer mechanical forces that act on the #nucleus. rupress.org/jcb/article/... #Cytoskeleton #Mechanobiology

Why is this student so upset about the mushroom, though? What could it have done to make her protest across the whole continent

📢 TALK ALERT: Montreal peeps! I will be giving a talk in Montreal at Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont Centre de Recherche on Oct. 23 (12 to 1 pm) on on our work identifying ancient functions of two tumour suppressors: promyelocytic leukemia (PML) protein and pre-mRNA processing factor 4 kinase (PRP4K).

This reminds me of a Studio C episode from many years ago. My teenage kiddo was a Studio C fan, so this oh, so catchy jingle returned without warning from a long hiatus. This jingle may not stick like it did with the teenager, but it also brought back joyful memories. www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVr1...
