I forget which podcast it was, but talking about football finance yesterday one mentioned that "normal banks won't touch football clubs", and compared the companies they do go to to "pay day lenders" - and I don't know why but I found that also incredibly funny (derogatory). What a house of cards.

There was a time not that long ago where the BBC would point out that 'the Emperor has no clothes on'. Then Tory MPs got upset about their naked incompetence being highlighted, and so we've spent a decade-ish watching the BBC get chipped away at, now matter how much it grovels. And here we are.

At a time when UK governments like making declarations about Britain's place in the world somehow France24 manages to have 10 correspondents in South America while the BBC has 0

Labour had a chance to do something about this, but hasn't - because it's an easy target when they need one, and they've also convinced themselves that competing with private sector dipshits is good actually (all underpinned by a completely useless Minister at the head of DCMS).

An incredible number of men born in the 1960s believe they were personally gassed at The Somme.

Prejudices so suppressed they can only be ‘whispered’ in a national newspaper.

One day/shift - cold calling people in Australia(!!) from a centre in the UK trying to shift children’s books of all things. I needed a job, but not that badly.

This on top of another busy road being shut for several weeks, which has already put pressure on other routes. Honking planning.

Mmm nothing like a lane closure along one of towns busiest roads on a Friday afternoon to really piss everyone off.

Investor cash still seems to be tied up in what companies are doing with AI - because that's still viewed as the thing that makes 'line go up' - but the realities of using it are becoming more and more shonky. There's going to be long term business use cases, but the current environment ain't it.

Employers worldwide are pulling back on AI as they navigate a flood of errors and low-quality work that sap employee time, raise privacy and security risks, and drive up costs

"have invention on new IP" Hi-Fi Rush was a success and Microsoft still wanted to close Tango Gameworks. I know that wasn't Sharma, but you'll forgive anyone who follows the industry, let alone works in it, for holding a 'I don't know about that one, champ' type position around these things.

A genuinely embarrassing result for #NUFC this.

Rob@samuraipizzarob.bsky.social

A rare moment of quality in an otherwise dire game. #NUFC in a huge hole now against probably the weakest team in the PL.

It’s shit but doesn’t come as a complete surprise because the obsession with AI in the investor class remains strong - gonna be ‘real fun’ to see who is left standing when this pyramid scheme collapses though. Not just financially but also in terms of ability to attract human talent again.

As well as having one of the Big Six found guilty of one of the worst cases of cheating in the history of sport, the Premier League has also had four of those six teams play each other this weekend, and those games were shit. A dog piss return to action for the league.

Trump should have been made a pariah on the political stage already. All the state visits, the handshakes, the attention when he speaks. A man with no credibility or conscience has been able to operate as if these things are normal. We say 'maybe today will be the day' because what else do we have?
