rewatched Season 5 of The Wire this week and, even though it has a Shattered Glass story at its core, was thinking about how nice it was to see the real work of journalism on a screen. going to pressers, asking questions, making connections and speaking to sources, building a beat, etc.

i think it would be good for many people, including those who confidently feel this does not apply to them, to check in with their views on journalism and ensure they are reflecting reality and aren't being (unintentionally!) shifted by subtle leakage of certain internet cultures into mainstream

it's both a basic courtesy and a best practice to backlink people. it's frustrating to see content creators not do that, when they wouldn't even have that content to post without our original work.

Tried to keep mostly calm here. BioWare management shouldn't be let off the hook for its own part in the troubles of the past decade, but every story we hear about how EA mismanaged the studio is a reminder that this was entirely avoidable.
