Horror fam! Went to the awesome Brooklyn Horror Festival, and the playlist before the movie was all songs from iconic horror movie scenes - "Goodbye Horses" / Silence of the Lambs; "Midnight, The Stars, and You" / The Shining - What songs from what movies would YOU put on such a playlist?

Well, THAT was a surprise! I asked paid subscribers who Deimos should target next from his Kill List, & the winner was the last one I expected. So now I’m excited to figure out how the hell to write that chapter 😅. COLLABORATIVE STORYTELLING IS FUNNNN, FRIENDS sentencebender.substack.com/embed

I find that a lot of robot fiction becomes more interesting when you think of the word “robot” as meaning “forced laborer” which is the root of its meaning when Carel Kapek coined the word

Sheree Reneé Thomas's The Tongue I Dream In brings together poems, short stories, and nonfiction writing to celebrate Black excellence and her works' communal cosmology: a collection @readingtheend.bsky.social calls "a particular treat"

I wanna be here to celebrate my friends, discover great work, & see cool stuff. I have other spaces for updates on atrocity, fascism, mass extinction, etc. Anyone have tips for spending time here without getting freshly inflamed/infuriated every 6 seconds? Curated feeds, block tactics, etc?

A movie about a deranged public intellectual possessed by the ghost of a degenerate gambler who uses a new communications technology to tear society apart through violent crime during a period of economic downturn. It's also about gooning, kind of. Holds up alarmingly well.

Even if this was true, which it may be in his circles but isn't universally, history gives us a ton of examples of how "many respectable people are doing this" and "this is morally horrific" can overlap.

I barely know a single professional person who isn’t using AI occasionally. Aside from the implication that they’re all engaged in some kind of crime, it’s bonkers that AI’s most prominent “expert” critics seem dramatically less versed in its capabilities than the average graphic designer.

1963's The Outer Limits was The Twilight Zone's weirder cousin, with hour-long episodes fusing science fiction, noir, and psychological horror centered on the issues of the era. @donkaye.bsky.social recommends eight standout episodes from the series for your October watchlist:
